Take it apart, there will be a chip like la7835 (then number might be different) it will be an upright chip. 7-15 pins. solder it. if you cant find the chip take it apart and turn it on and tap on all the heatsinks and the line should appear when you tap the vertical chip. then resolder it, and if you want it to last longer replace the 100@25-50v capacitor next to it

You can hear everything but no picture

IF there is no dsiplay then its definitely due to loss of high voltage. You should start by testing the horizontal deflection circuits and the HOT(Horizontal Output Transistor), If you are skilled in working on electronics PCBs and know how to solder then let me know and I will guide you with the repair.

53" sony projection -picture washed out w/ green horizontal lines

It sounds like your Green CRT ( picture tube ) is shorted. That's the one in the middle. Sony had issues with there tubes in those years. Sorry for the bad news. Even if you could locate the tube, it will be a matter of time before the Red or Blue does the same.

We had a blue cone on the screen. We have adjusted the sharpness, contrast, and cross hairs. The cone has almost completely disappeared, but we still have blue shadows. Could this mean a blown color tube?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a proscan ps57660 rear projection tv, and the picture tube keeps jumping. its like the colors won't line up. every so often it will hold, but that is only when there is a full moon and martians...

TV repair guy is right. There are three separate tubes inside your tv (red, blue and green) that are set up to project perfectly on top of each other so that their pictures line up exactly. These tv's have shorter lives do to the fact that they are using the same technology as a conventional tv but they have seriously cranked the power up on these things. They run hotter and harder than any other tv out there. I recomend thinking fondly of the happy days that you had with this tv, then giving it a proper burial and upgrading to HD.

RED AND GREEN LINES HORIZONTALLY ACROSS TV

This sounds like you may have bad picture tubes. Most likely the green and red tubes. You would have to have them replaced and realigned. I would call a Sony ASC and get an estimate to verify this. An onsite service call could verify if this is what's causing your problem.
