Can't load music without deleting existing materials

Due to problems with my PC at home,a friend has loaded some music & videos via her laptop.I have now purchased my own laptop and would like to now add my own music etc.,however when I try this my ipod classic/itunes says that by doing so will delete all existing files.
Is there a way around this as I do not want to start over again?

Model-IPOD Classic 80GB

Any advice would be much appreciated.
thanks

I'm sorry, but there is no way around that without starting over. This means that the two laptops have different operating system and you will have to restore your ipod if you want it to work with your computer.

Unable to upload photos to Sansa View

Download from the sansa support site > http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4431/related/1/kw/media%20converter/r_id/101834 the firmware updater for your player model. The Media Converter is free to use. You can access the converter down load from the updater program. Now also the Sansa player can hook up to a computer in two different modes. Through normal use it can switch modes on it's own, although rare it can happen. Now stuff added in one mode can not be seen in the other mode and you can not delete the files. So you have MSC mode which means Mass storage class and is the best mode to use. Then MTP mode means Media transfer protocol, you have to use this mode if you use Napster and such to download MP3's with protected content (DRM) you have to set the player to one mode or the other, to see the files and delete the files you want to delete or to find the missing room. MSC makes your player look like a thumb drive, and is easy to use. Sansa Media Converter (SMC) software is required to convert and transfer videos and photos (pictures) to your Sansa player. With the player hooked up to the computer via the USB cable. Drag and drop your video into the "video" folder. Be sure the video is converted into the proper file format. Sansa players use the following video and music formats AVI, MPEG-42_bing.gif, MP3.

How to transfer music/video from iPod to PC/iTunes 9

Anyone who has seen an iPod will understand the basic concept behind the design of the iPod touch: a 3.5-inch There are plenty of reasons why you want to transfer your music/video from iPod to iTunes or PC. For example, you may want to make backup your iPod music/video in case of hard drive crash, to retrieve iPod music/video when you accidentally deleted a song or video from your hard-drive, to share your music/video with your friend, to use your iPod with different or more than on computer, or to copy music/video to your new iPod.

Apple's iTunes really does work when it pulls iTunes purchased content off your iPod. The new iTunes 9 makes it easier to share music/video, movies, TV shows, and more. With Home Sharing, you can browse the iTunes libraries of up to five authorized computers in your house, import what you like, and automatically add new purchases made on any of the computers to your own library.

The iTunes 9 is nice for sharing the iTunes purchased content, but how to share the rest of your content of iPod with your friend, you'll need some additional software. There are a lot of programs that can transfer iPod content to iTunes 9 and PC. But from the point view of both functionality and simplicity, there is an iPod music/video Transfer which works well with all models of iPods including the latest iPod Touch 3G and iPod Nano 5G. Let's find it out.

The program is Wondershare iPod Transfer. By which, you can transfer usic/video between your iPod and PC freely, and you can transfer music/video to iTunes easily. First, connect your iPod to computer, and then you can do the following steps easily.

Transfer music/video from iPod to PC

Select one or more files in the file list, and click 'to-compter', then you can transfer iPhone music/video to your computer to share with your friends.

Copy music/video from PC to iPod directly

Select one or more files in the file list, and click 'to-ipod', then you can copy music/video from your PC to iPod directly without synchronizing iTunes.

Transfer music/video from iPod to iTunes 9

Just like copying music/video from iPhone to computer, you need to check video/audio files and then click 'to-itunes' The program will automatically open your iTunes after transferring is done.

This iPod Transfer works well on all models of iPods to transfer music and video from iPod to PC and iTunes.

DELET AND LOAD MUSIC

Plug it into any usb port on any computer. The unit should mount as a removable drive in "my computer" delete only the MP3 files, as some of the others may be software for operation of the MP3 player. Rock on!

the part you plug the wires into may be dirty and the computer may be unable to read the files. you should clean your mp3 player slots by blowing into it.

Reformat the player is all you can do - you will not be able to download an upgrade that will prevent this from happening in future, b/c the upgrade is not Mac compatible

That's a pretty weird problem. The only suggestion I can give you is to check to make sure the music you put on was 1) in mp3 or wav format and 2) if this is music you have purchased, to ensure you have the rights properly set to play the music

Try to re-format it. on player go to settings, then advanced then format. select format, say yes and it should reboot. if that doesn't work you need to upgrade the firmware. got to iriveramerica.com, support, ultra portabale support and download firmware updater software. Not a bad idea to upgrade firmware in either case. Your music will be lost when you format but you can simply re-load it from your music manager on your PC.
