Our DVD keeps freezing the TV image

The program continues to advance while the image is frozen. We have tried washing the disc but this has no effect. The unit plays for awhile and then begins stopping and going but finally it just freezes up and is stuck. What's going on? Do we need a new unit? We have a Trutech On the front it says TP1620.

Image freeze

If the problem is same with different input devices and you have ensured there are no loose contacts in power outlet, RC jack, cable and sockets, the TV needs servicing.

Certain dvd movies get stuck at various times throughout playing (freezing) cannot perform any other operations while frozen except stop.

This is common. It is caused by fingerprints, dirt, scratches on the disc.Once it freezes there is nothing you can do(sometimes ff works).Just eject it clean it with dry cloth circular motion or use wet type disc repair sold at retailers.Best advise clean all discs before you play them.Good Luck.

Movies are freezing

it depends on the condition of your dvds and how old your player is.
try using a DVD disc cleaner. This cleaner looks just like a disc with some extra little brushes on its surface. Some DVD cleaner kits even come with supplies to clean and modify scratches on your discs. if this dont work you may want to get a new player..

please leave a fixya rating as thats how we get paid...

Channel jumping

Sounds like the PIP feature is causing the problem with the TV if you are connected directly to cable TV without a box inline and getting these issues.

Can't hold a picture

Your problem while watching cable tv sounds like a bad tuner with little or no adjacent channel rejection. The problem with the DVD and I think to some extent the cable sounds like a video processing problem. This unit has digital video circuits and could easily cause the problem you describe. The easiest and probably the cheapest solution would be to replace the board with a refurbed unit. Two companies which sell refurbed boards are PTS Electronics, Bloomington, IN (www.ptsinc.com) and Tri-State Module, Evansville, IN (www.tristatemodule.com). Good luck.
