Question about Gateway Computers & Internet

2 Answers

I want to add memory. Currently we have 256 and our sales papers say it is expandable to 2GB. My system serial number is 0027629510. My serial number is IUMV22608247. I get mixed messages about if/how much room there is a for expansion from a Belarc scan,a Crucial scan, and info relating to 700SE series computers from Gateway. What are my options?

I appreciated the prompt reply. When I contacted Gateway with all the specifications they said memory was no longer available for that serial number. I find that disappointing since our original contract said our computer was expandable to 2 GB. Do I have any recourse? They suggested I buy something to optimize my system. Thank you very much.

First, this model can take many numerous types of memory. I'll need to know what kind of memory and how many slots you have and what is in each slot inside your computer. If you are unsure about how to tell what kind of memory there is, send me pictures of the slots with the memory in it, and take out a chip and take a photo of it for me and I'll be able to tell. Thanks.

Okay, unfortunately that RAM never took off and as such is very rare. None of my distributors carry it anymore. You can find it on EBay....but at a hefty cost....$120 per gigabyte. At that cost, it'd be cheaper to purchase a new computer. I can get you a new one with 2 GB of memory for $399 and it will be much faster than your gateway :c)

I have celeron 2.53 ghtz processor, asrock p4i45gv motherboard and zion 256 mb ddr and want to add another 1 gb ddr to the second slot. would that work ?

Asrock p4i45gv motherboard,
Memory type: 2 x DDR slots, DDR333/266 non-ECC, un-buffered memory - - Max. capacity of system memory: 2GB

If you use DDR 333/266 1 GB, it will work on your motherboard.

Hope it helps.

Want to add more memory to aspire t180 ast 180-ud400b

According to Acer's website, your system uses this memory configuration...

256MB DDR2 533/667/800 SDRAM expandable to 4GB

My suggestion to you is, if you have the original 256 loaded, find a good bargain on DDR2 667, one gb memory modules and REPLACE what is installed, instead of adding to it.

If you add to it, and it is the incorrect speed (that's the 667 number), you may experience some very undesirable results.

good luck
tony

Which memory ram for amilo pro v7010

http://www.fujitsu-siemens.ru/Resources/123/2080773523.pdf

Here's a link to the Data Sheet with the specifications to that Laptop in Adobe Reader format.

Looks like your Laptop came with either 256 or 512 MB of DDR SDRAM and it is upgradable to 2 GB of DDR SDRAM.

You can check to see exactly how much RAM your computer came with by going to Control Panel, double-click System and it should tell you how much RAM you currently have in the System Properties box.

The motherboard has 2 slots for RAM, you you could add a second 256 MB or a second 512 MB stick of RAM. Or if you wanted to upgrade to the 2GB of maximum RAM this computer handles, then you can take out the RAM chip(s) that is installed and install two 1G DDR SDRAM.

Ad d memory to an HPpavilion ze 4900

From the research that I've done of the ze4900 the maximum is 1GB but I also read that some can go up to 2GB, I need the HP part number of your laptop to know for sure, it's a 7 or 8 digit string that starts with a P then another letter, 3 numbers, then two more letters. You can find it on a label under the system with the serial number. Thanks.

Which RAM to use for Soltek SL-75DRV/-v

Leif: The difference in the numbers (2700 versus 3200) is speed rating-- basically, the higher the number the faster the RAM. Your computer is currently using 2700, so it's safe to use 3200, it's just faster than is currently used/specified.
Your computer is a Socket A - AMD Via-based board, so it is likely the motherboard will accept 1 GB memory modules. With three slots open, you would want to buy 2, 1-GB modules for best results. At current pricing, that would cost about $100. 2- 512MB modules would be next-best and around $55. Be sure to place the two modules in the slots next to each other, and closest to the processor for best results.
