As usual technical dept in all ISP's are useless and unhelpfull especially if it's not a supplied modem.
(p.s. the ip address they are going on about is probably your routers address and not the ISP's address)
Anyway; you will have to get into your routers settings page, as you may have to set it up manually as I had to for a friend who is also with Tiscali as the router cannot obtain an ip address automatically from Tiscali.
Make sure you are connected to the router via the RJ45 network cable (Normally Supplied)and then Normally you type in something similair to 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.1(check your manual for this), in your internet browser eg internet explorer.
Then go through the settings using the routers settings Wizard and manually input the following.
Virtual Circuit Identifier - VCI38
Virtual Path Finder- VPI0
Encapsulation Mode VCMux
Authentication Type CHAP
Protocol RFC 2364:PPP over ATM (PPPoA)
Modulation Type G.DMT or Auto
Primary DNS Server 212.74.112.66
Secondary DNS Server 212.74.112.67
Save settings.
Try accessing internet while you are still wired, if you can you know the ISP's settings are ok and you already know each PC can access the router, you should be away.

- Can i assume that you have setup your username and password in the routers settings also, as it will not connect otherwise, because when online with a router it is 'Always on', unlike when you get the supplied modem , you normally click connect to get online.Nov 03, 2006
