Digilogic digital set top box (DSTB1000) - No picture

I turn my TV to AV channel and all I get is a black screen. No picture, no sound. Standby LED is lit green. Function LED is lit red. The remote batteries are fine as I can still turn it on and off using the remote.

All of the lights are occasionally going off for brief periods too....i.e. turning itself off and then back on again.

We have been having some bad weather but surely that wouldn't cause this would it?

Is it doomed? I have had it for a while.

Hello Suzid, It looks to me like you have a possible power supply issue (poor brightness on screen, shrinking of the picture, and initially no picture) This problem may put you in danger of electrical shock, so I would suggest that you not try to repair this set yourself. I would suggest that you take the television to a television repair shop. The power supply issue could be a low power or a high power supply problem.

SOURCE: stressing out!!

Alba TVs are manufactured in Albainia and the service info is next to impssible to obtain. I would try to troublehoot the deflection circuits. Possibly horizontal output or one of the regulators.

Replace the horizontal output transistor (Q502) and check the electrolytic caps in the vicinty, unsing an ESR meter. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TV TUBE MIGHT BE CHARGE WITH ABOUT 27,000 VOLTS.

the function light dose not represent a remote command, it simply flashes when it detects a infra red signal of any wavelenth. if the box is not turning on it sounds like a defective nor or nand flash rom. i believe that the box has a j-tag so maybe you re flash it?

proberly not

so inconclusion a defective flash means no os no os means the box wont work

hope this helps

Most likely it was a failed capacitor. Look for a leakey one or the top could be bulged.

I have a 26' led LG TV , and i am using a new set top box . when i am joining the tv from set top box and going in AV mode , its showing input blocked, i can not use set top box services. please h

Please provide a model number for this TV, I would have thought being an LED tv that you wouldn't be needing a set-top box as it would be digital already.

Tv turns on but there is just a black screen and no audio. It is not even 2 years old. Please help.

Most likely you are on the wrong source chanell. look for an AV/TV button. keep changing that untill you get to the TV stations. If you have a set top box make sure it is turned on. Also the appropriate AV channel will be the one that the set top box is plugged into.

Try unplugging the power and then holding down the power button for a few seconds either on the remote or tv. I think this will reset the lcd tv. Tell me if this works.

How to get rid of a black screen on my tv. sound is ok

If you mean that you get a black box, with a little of the picture visible around the edges, then your closed captions are on and set to TEXT. This puts a black box on the screen about 10 seconds after changing the channel. Go into the menu and turn off the closed captions and the picture will be back to normal.
