Would be pleased if someone could help with a problems i am having with my computer shutting down, with a message coming up saying power saving mode. It only happens when playing games, but some work. Strange thing is, it happens on the older games, some of the games with higher system requirements work fine. I have a LG l1715S '17inch' flat screen, and Raedon 9800 Series Graphics Card. I have read many of the above problems and fixes, tried them none have worked. Examples, went in bios, and changed power management, tried all display options in control panel (setting all to never).
I have reinstalled graphics driver, reinstalled the lg screen driver, and none have worked. Not sure if anyone can help with this problem, don't think it is the monitor because the computer shuts down, and needs to do system check before loading up again.
please any assitance would be helpful

Try to connect the monitor on other source for signal -laptop or other known working computer.if it posible.
Try with other rgb cable.Moust of monitor go tu stand by or power saving mode when is not presence of signal from computer(h-sync )
If monitor works ok on other source, than problem is in your computer(vga card probably)
Hi there. I had the same problem months ago when I try to play high end games like Sims 3 my monitor goes into power saving mode. I tried to check every possible causes of the problem. It could be that your computer is overheating try to clean your computer and check if your fans still works. Second it could me your power supply malfunctioning, maybe it does not meet the required power to make your game work. Last cause is your video card malfunctioning, what I did is to just buy a new video card and it works.
If you do not have spare power supply or video card you can go to a computer repair shop for them to check the possible problem that causes it to go into power saving mode. It can also save you money before you can buy a new one.
Hope this helps, Have a good day!
Not sure which windows you are using but on my Vista there is also a setting for power saving on the PCI Express video card. Have you tried changing that setting. Not sure if that would be the problem but worth a try. Mine is set for maximum power saving but it hasn't turned off on me except while watchng a video. I haven't played a game so don't know if it affects games. It's under advance power settings \ PCI express \ Link state power managment. Turn it to Off and see what happens.
I am guessing you are playing games with a joystick because using a mouse or keys would probably stop the computer turning off the screen. Is there a setting under your game controller preferences for power saving?
You might also have a seperate control panel that installed with your video card that lets you change settings outside of Windows. I have Nvidia Control Panel on mine you might have something else. Maybe you can change something there as well.
Have you checked you power saving options in Control panel. If this is a desktop, unless you are a energy miser, I would change your power saving options to never on all options, turn off hibernation and suspension for when you are playing games. You can find this in control panel under power Options. Let me know if this helps. Thank you
I had the same problem with my LG Flatron (not the same model as your one). I fixed it by connecting both the digital and analogue cables from the pc. Presumably, the problem occurs because the monitor is not receiving a digital signal.
