Question about E-Machines T2200 PC Desktop

E-machine died with no warning

After having my desktop e-machine t2200 switched on for only 5mins it switched itself off and has refused to power up again since. I was told that it could be a motherboard problem as apparently that is a common fault with e-machines, however i changed that and still got the same problem. the green light on the motherboard is illuminated when connected to the power cable. All power cables and supply sockets have been checked but the pc refuses to power up. Could someone please offer me some help and advice.........getting really cheesed off with it all now but dont want to through it away when it could be a simple problem that i have overlooked. Thank-you shaz

Re: e-machine died with no warning

Is it possible for you to check the power supply unit, as it could still show its powering the board but is incapable of powering all the other components. I am surprised you managed to get hold of a AMD Athlon (Socket 7 or A) motherboard, they are old hat know as the AMD Sempron in the successor to your processor. These are only about £15.00 and probably a 500W one would be better than the 350W one your PC probably has. If it's not the PSU then you are looking at a processor fault, again only about £30.00 with the heat sink and fan.

yellow normally indicates sleep or hibernate, have you tried to press keys on the keyboard to see if it wakes up? have you tried just pressing the power button once?

I have an eMachines T2200 The power supply started making noise and I shut the system off. The next time I tried to boot up nothing happens. I replaced the power suppy and when I turn it on the cd and dvd...

I would check to see if power is getting to your hard drive, Make sure the white molex's are plugged in.

E-Machines are, unfortunately the worst machines out there. They're up there with Compaq.
You're not going to like what I say but I'd urge you to buy a new one. Chances are it will take an arm and a
leg to fix what your using and for a little bit more money you can have a really nice one for 500 dollars
or less.

Got a machine but it keeps switching off after few minutes could it be power switch on front if so where can i get one

It isnt the power switch, it's the power supply itself. You need to get a new one from, or

Emachines are notorious for their bad power supplies, and they usually burn out the motherboard when they die. Stop pushing that button and get a new Power supply before your board messes up.

My t2200 emachine has power, the fan on the cpu works, the power supply works, the drive work, there is a red light on mother board but my display is black, display works fine with other pc. keyboard blinks...

Could be a RAM error. try cleaning the contacts of the memory module before re-inseirting it, or you can try and swap with another if its available

Computer switched itself on and has not worked since.

It's either a dead power supply or a fried motherboard. Emachines are cheap junk, their power supplies and motherboards die all the time, just look around here on Fixya for proof. Instead of saving a buck, consider buying a better brand.

Need wiring diagram for emachines t2200 motherboard

If you are replacing the power supply and it has 4 pin 12v conector and your motherboard doesn't, just disregard the 4 pin plug. The 20 pin conector will supply sufficient power for the processor. Many of the older motherboards did not have a separate 12v supply for the processor.
