Envelope letting me know there is a txt msg won't go away, even wen theres not msg!!

The envelope to show that there is a new message won't go away, even when theres not a message there. I tried swapping sims, taking my sim out and putting it back in, turning the fone on without a sim...nothing seems to work to get rid of it. Any ideas?

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I had the same problem. I checked the browser messages and sure enough the phone co had sent me something out. I am so relieved. I knew I could find a solution on the internet!! :-)

This happened to me too. It was driving me crazy. As suggested above, I checked "Browser Messages" (never even knew that was there) and, lo and behold, I had a new message from the phone company. Once I deleted, the text message icon finally went away!

Is the envelope refering to a voice mail message, if so you will have to ring your networks voice mail and normally press 3 to delete, although sometimes it may show up for a few days. If not and it's the text message icon, go into inbox and cleanup all inbox and outbox messages.

My home screen shows a flashing envelope icon even though my sim contacts memory is nowhere near full

This icon indicates that the SIM card's own text message storage is full. This doesn't actually cause problems on the 5800 because it stores its messages in the phone's own memory, but the envelope can look a bit annoying.
To get rid of the flashing envelope:

1. On the standby screen press the white menu button.

2. Select "Messaging"

3. Select "Options"

4. Select "SIM Messages"

5. Delete some or all of the messages from the SIM messages folder using the Options menu.
