Mrboo747, might you know where to obtain a replacement motor for the Lasko fans? I have searched the web, but came up with no real replacements.

I would love to tell you yes, but I ended up buying new fan.
The common wire was broken, buried in the windings and no way to repair without
damaging the windings.
Could not find anything on line.

Sorry,

1 800 233 0268 is the customer support number. Or you can take it to a hardware store and look for generic screws. Keep in mind they might be metric.

How can I fix my Lasko E20739 tower fan, when the motor stops running?

That fan has an electronic (computerized) control board which sometimes malfunctions. Nothing new there, right?

The problem is that the cost of the repair can excede the price of a brand new replacement, with a warranty to boot.

You may take it to a service depot and get it checked out, provided you get an estimate and this is done free of charge.

My Lasko E20739 blower fan works but does not oscillate. The small 120V motor that does the oscillating seems to be the problem. Please confirm and advise where can I buy s replacement motor Peter

i don't think it's going to be a motor issue, these fans have a round plastic gear in them that commonly go bad. remove the bottom cover by removing (5) phillips head screws, then unwind the power cord from the cord holder rembering the path, then remove the (3) large phillips screws, then just slide the base of the fan off and the gear is right there. if the gear is bad, you'll know cause there'll be pieces of plastic everywhere and the teeth on the gear will be rounded off. have fun. oh, for the part, i suggest contacting lasko at www.laskoproducts.com

Lasko E20739 Fan

It sounds like the electronic controls have put the fan into "breeze mode". The fan turns slowly then is supposed to surge back to high. Some people love this feature for some reason...
Disable breeze mode via your remote (its the button with the stacked ~'s).

A bad motor wouldn't rotate at all. The only other problem might be the motor's running capacitor. If you can start the fan in either direction (give it a hand spin in the opposite direction of rotation) you have a bad capacitor...and you can find a replacement anywhere (Radio Shack).

Cleaning

Model E20739: The entire back comes off to expose the fan blades after removing two screws. Just unplug the unit. On the back of the unit near the top is a recess that acts as a carrying handle. In that area you will see two large silver-colored screws. Remove these, grasp the back of the unit and push down on it as you pull it away from the body of the fan. You may have to wiggle it around a little to free it.
