You will probably need to remove the bezel and key board to see or get at the screw on the back of the bezel. When you get this far you should be able to see the problem with the wires or backlight. Probably where they flex when you open / close the lid.

Undertake any of this at your own risk.

Do not force anything. Stop and look for "hidden" screws.

A new standard fan would be your best allover option
the source of the problem is that inverter's flex is not properly fixed.that is why the light shows up when u press down the lid.

Yeah, replace the set since it appears to be trashed. But if you have a few bucks lying around you might want to try replacing the unit's power supply to see if that resolves the many issues you have.

Compaq presario cq61 display not show

I had the same problem. While rebooting the laptop the screen would be on for a few seconds after it finished rebooting then the display would go black. If you looked very carefully at the screen you could see the image was there but there was no light behind the screen to make the image visible.

I removed the black plastic display bezel cover that goes around the edge of the display screen to check out the lights and wiring. I found a small magnet that belongs inside the display bezel had fallen out of it's slot in the plastic bezel and was stuck to the inverter pcb (printed cicuit board). To fix this problem I secured the magnet into it's slot inside the display bezel with a bit of glue. After fixing the problem and putting the display bezel back together the laptop worked normally.

This magnet is how the laptop knows the lid is closed. When the laptop is closed the magnet is moved closer to a magnetic switch on the inverter pcb and activates the switch. The laptop thinks it is closed and shuts off the lights behind the display screen. When the magnet fell out of it's slot and stuck to the inverter it activated the magnetic switch all the time whether the laptop was open or closed. This caused the laptop to think it was closed and shut off the lights behind the dispaly screen as soon as the reboot finished.

My screen is black

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge. If it seems like the laptop is up and running but the screen is not displaying anything then the issue is with the screen. Take a flashlight and shine it on the screen and look very hard and you might see the icons or something very faintly on the screen. If so, your LCD Inverter needs to be replaced. It is located at the bottom of the screen and covered by the strip that goes around the screen. IIf you don't see anything on the screen then try plugging an external monitor to the laptop. I can be any kind of monitor, even the old big fat crt's as long as it has a vga cable that can go into your laptop's vga port. If you see the image on the external monitor, that means your video card is good and the screen needs to be replaced. Sometimes you might have to hit the FN key plus one of the F1 thru F12 keys to get the image to display. The correct F1 thru F12 key will either say CRT/LCD or it will have the icon of a display on it. Press and Hold the FN key then hit the correct F1 thru F12 key. This will toggle the the image to display either on the computer's screen, the external monitor screen, or on both screens.

Hi, I have Acer Aspire 5500z (AS5502Z). When I power on - there is no boot The screen is black ). The power indicator is on.

could be a number of things. Lets try to narrow it down.

When you turn on the computer do you see the hard drive light blinking at all? If not, i am leaning towards a failed motherboard. If there is a blinking or solid hard drive light try to hold a flashlight up to the screen to see if you can see any images. If the backlight (or ignitor) for the screen goes out, many times you can make out the screen if you hold a light source close to the screen.

Let us know that info and maybe we can help out a little further.

Good Luck

Dell D500 not starting

It's unfotunate that you don't have the info from the blue screen, this would help tremendously. The blinking light is actually a code, a certain light will blink a certain number of times for a specific code. Go to Dell's support site and find the light codes for your machine, this will help in narrowing down the problem area. I believe you're going to need the tools to remove the covers, so you might think to pick them up. A majority of the time this type of problem is either with the memory or the hard drive. Start with the codes list, and gofrom there. If you need any help, just ask.
