Mhu 75, only one burner lights

Piped 3/4 pipe all the way to heater in garage & dropped to 1/2" last 2'. Only one burner of the five(sometimes 2) lights and then it times out. Could gas pressure cause it? Have tried playing with valve with no changes. Furnace & water heater work fine.

Did you put a drip pocket on the line to the heater

  • Anonymous Apr 09, 2012

Yes I did. I just had the gas company check the pressure to the house and it was 7WC. They wouldn' check the furnace pressure though.

SOURCE: MHU 75 Model Mr. Heater

The roll out switch is a small disc shaped part about the size of a nickle. There may be more than one. anyway there is a button shaped like a small peg in the center if it, push it in and it should stay in. You may need to re examine the limit switch, because this is what it sounds like. they are rated for a set temperature, so your application may need a higher temp. A simple way to check parts like these is to by-pass them by taking the wires off the part and connecting them together. If this solves the problem, that it. My only concern is that this is a new installation, and maybe its not venting adequately or its burning up all the usable air in the room. That's why most of these parts are on the equipment.

SOURCE: propane convection heater won't maintain full flame

Seems like the valve is not opening up fully or the adjustment is out of adjustment. Try adjusting the flame.

SOURCE: MHU45LP won't fire

The pressure switch to which you are referring is the switch connected to the suction side of your induced draft fan. This pressure switch will have a hose connected between the switch and the induced draft fan. Please let me know if you need any more assistance.

SOURCE: Heater Burner ignites but main blower motor will not turn on.

it sound like the blower motor may be seizing up. try spining the blade by hand to see if it feels free or not. the motor could be trying to turn but can then tripping itself out on overload. (most motors have built in safety overloads which will trip during an overcurrant event. aka too many amps.) you may have to replace blower motor

Bought a sterling 75 c garage heater burner lights but then 24 v transformer burns out

I didn't find that model but did see a pretty standard wiring schematic for Sterling garage heaters in one installation manual. I'm sure they didn't change much. I did notice they use a 50va transformer, not 40 which is likely what is getting used now. Don't think that would fix it, just an idea. Put a 5 amp fuse inline on the red side of the secondary side of the transformer. This will protect it. I'm willing to bet the ignitor section on the low voltage common is wired wrong. Remove the tstat wires, buy a resettable fuse and install it first. Then get the fan running first. If there is a g terminal jump red to green. This is fan only, start simple, hope this helps

I have a RMTG-53dvn piped in parrallel with a traditional water heater because I used to have two traditional in parallel. The unit never kicked on with no trouble code, so I piped in series with a...

I could see how it might not work in parallel. Much water would go thru the conventional heater, so there would be low flow thru the tankless.
Now, the tankless is getting hot water from the conventional. Try shutting the conventional heater's power source off so the water gets cold, then see what happens with the tankless.

Need a blanket for Rheem Water Heater model #22VRP75.

You have 75 gallon gas water heater.
I install water heater insulation 3 ways:
1) Easiest: buy ready-made blanket from Lowes and use duct tape
2) Harder: wrap heater in ordinary fiberglass insulation and use tie wire
3) Hardest: Build a box out of blue styrafoam >> leaving room for air intake for gas water heater, and space around vent pipe

Instructions for gas water heater:
Do not cover TP valve.
No insulation is put over gas valve or air intake.
No insulation touches vent pipe.
Remember the gas water heater has to breathe air into the burner, and aftter combustion takes blace, hot gases escape so extra space is left around hot vent pipe to avoid fire.

Find age of Rheem: look at 3rd and 4th digit of serial number, for example 06 was manufactured in 2006.

Also take advantage of fixya phone service.
For a price, expert speaks with you over phone while you work on water heater or any do-it-yourself project.

The nozzle size and gap completely are designed to each burner, if the bock water heater had a becket burner than you would be okay with the gap, if not then what I would do is check the manufactures manual for proper nozzles and gaps of electrode assembly

My larrs pool heater will ignite, but not stay lit

If your Laars will not stay lit then the pilot generator is faulty. That is the small brass and copper piped connection near the pilot flame. It must produce 250minivolts in order to open the main gas valve and keep the gas running into the pilot burner..

High Pitched droning noise just after ignition on and andrews R300 boiler. how do you cure? Is it gas pressure related?

If the gas flex line to the unit is to small it will whistle and make a very strange noise while the main burners are on. The gas flex is what connects the unot to the hard piped gas line, replace the gas flex and that will fix it. Note: not a longer gas flex, there should be a tag on it, lets say it's a 1/2", then install a 5/8", ect.
Good Luck.
