Reset how can i reset mij garmin? the buttons "goto, page and up / down, don't work anymore. who can help?

Can you switch it on?
If so, try switching on with GOTO held down or ENTER held down

The first clears personal settings, the latter enters test mode and for fun try pressing the page button after starting with ENTER - look out for hypnotoad!

With the satnav turned off Press the bottom right corner of the screen and then slide the on button to the right and hold it until the prompt comes on. You'll be asked if you want to do a factory reset. Select yes and it will reset.

This is caused by a corrupted file on the Nuvi. To fix this issue, a special version of firmware has to be flashed on the unit, telling it to not look for the corrupted files. The unit will boot normally, then using the PC, the corrupted files need to be replaced and then finally the special firmware needs to be replaced (reflashed) with a standard firmware.

I have done this numerouse times.

Hello,

Doing a soft reset on the nuvi will usually get the nuvi up and running.
If there is a reset button on the bottom, press and hold it until the nuvi powers back on. If it does not have the reset button on the bottom, slide and hold the power switch to the left for at least 10 seconds.
Also running the Garmin WebUpdater and reloading the latest update will resolve most issues.
Download and Install WebUpdater.

I cant connect to my wifi i forgot my security key
Hello.

You just need to reset your router so you don't have to put any password anymore. To reset it, find the reset button, it is really small and you have to use a pin to be able to press it. Hold the reset button down for 10 seconds.

My garmin nuva 1300 takes a really long time to load points of interest that i search for. For example, I typed in "Ocean City" to determine how to get to the beach, but it took a good ten...
I have a Garmin Dezl - which gets slower with less available memory. I can simulate slow behavior by planning a very long route - reducing available memory to the extreme. Unfortunately the Nuvi & Dezl (based on the Nuvi) doesn't have a function to clear up memory space.

In my situation I had to master reset the Garmin to get memory back. This clears all user data (including all POI's, favourites) and restores the factory state. A master reset works by holding the right bottom corner of the screen while pressing the power on button once.

I power my nuvi 255w on and it says loading maps but doesnt and it makes a beep and powers off. there is no reset button on this unit and i don`t know what to do to get it to come on and stay on? ty
Hold the power button for more than 20 seconds till it restarts - this is a soft reset. Then try again.

If that doesn't help, do a master reset which clears all user data back to the factory state. From powered down, turn the Garmin on while holding the right bottom corner of the screen for at least 20 seconds. A question should appear if all user data should be cleared. Then try again.

When it works again I would suggest to update the software in there till the latest version available on Garmin.com

Holding the page up and down buttons while powering on supposedly resets it. I have no sound except demos, but no lights showing like yours, and williams tech support said to reset that way but it didn't seem to do anything. Good luck hope this helps!

May I recommend performing a 'Hard Reset' (different from the reset button), or replacing the firmware of your Nuvi 205?

Both actions have been known to solve the symptoms you are reporting.

How to perform a factory reset on a Garmin GPSMAP 172
The model number of your unit has been cut off so I can't find exact instructions. I found a page here where the guy said he held down Enter and Page keys while turning the unit on.

GPS problem
I had this problem and did several resets both soft and hard. I also charged the battery completely. The gps unit would work in sim mode but when the antenna was opened it would not. Eventually after several charging cycles and resets, I was able to get it to settle down. I had to sync and reload all data. Good :Luck

Hi,

To my knowledge, a reset on a Garmin eTrex would require:
Holding down the PAGE and PAGE UP buttons while simultaneously powering the unit. The Garmin eTrex will enter the service mode/display:
- Bravo Version
- Software Version
- Time
- Internal temperature of unit
- Battery voltage
- External voltage
- Button presses
- Other tech info

You can also perform an LCD display/screen check by pressing the PAGE button 2X.

A firendly word of advice: While entering the service mode is interesting and useful, be careful which buttons you press because it is also possible to rest the unit to factory settings within this mode. Pressing "up"+"enter"+"on/off" keys in service mode will reset the eTrex to factory defaults. All presets and data will be lost.

To exit just turn it off as normal, and then turn it back on as normal. Unless you deliberately reset the GPS, nothing should have changed.

Alternately, you can try: Hold down the find, click-stick, and page buttons. Press the power button, and when the title screen appears, release the buttons. This will clear all memory (you will lose all waypoints, etc. back them up first).
Find button: bottom button on the left
Click stick: the button on the face of the unit
Page: the top button on the right
Power: the bottom button on the right
