Question about Technics SL-MC6 CD Player

1 Answer

Can't open CD player

Some CDs have slipped into the back of this player, and now I can't open the door to retrieve them. When I turn it on I get "Checking Discs" for hours and hours, and if I turn it off (while still pluged in) it reads "Off" with two dashes above that. It does not respond to the remote or the face panel.
The manual doesn't tell me what I can do about this.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Unplug.
Take top off. (Screws on the left and right sides sides.)
Use latch leaver on left side, near the front to release front door.
Remove all CD's from inside or in the CD tray.
Put lid back on.

Look at the top of the mechanism and make sure the drive belt is not slipping or off the pullies. This is pretty common on these units.

The tray will not open. I loaded the cd's into the changer, closed the tray and it sounded like one of the cd's may have slipped. It does not change or play.

Cdn-24 cd door wont open

Often the cause is a jammed CD or aa little belt that drives the carriage has failed or is slipping.

You need the OPEN the case to retrieve the CD if one is in there and check the mechanism does not have a problem. Some drives used to have a SMALL hole near the door that one would insert a straightened paper clip into straight to press a release... You might check for that.

How do i get cds out of the player. Unit was unplugged and moved and cd's got moved inside

You will have to open the set before you switch on. Be very careful not to damage the opticalhead or the delicate mechanism. if the cd is out of the tray use a good light to carefully understand how to track it back to the tray. Use a soft tool to push it back as usually it will go back as it had come back. You can also assist the loading mechanism to be turned at the motor drive to release. repeat the process to retrieve the cd. Do not break the cd's but push the edges by guiding it . I hope you do it right. Good day

Solve a jammed cd problem

Usually if you remove the cover you can access the area where the CDs are. You may have to remove the cover from the drive also. Let me know how this works out.

6 disc changer will not eject cds==

I had the same problem for months. I checked the owners manual, checked the fuse box, everything I could think of. Then, today, I did some online research and someone said one of the CD's is probably just jammed or slipped out a bit. The suggestion was to gently slide a credit card over the disk (through the door/slot, which in my case was partially open). I just tried it. The door closed and the message said "initializing". It worked! The CD player is back to normal.

Onkyo 6 disc cd changer DX-380 has CD stuck under carousel

This has just happened to us. Often when the changer tries to select a CD on random play, it somehow knocks one CD off the carousel, usually on top of the other 5 CDs and then you can retrieve it easily. This time it knocked it down behind the carousel so the drawer could not close. We left the drawer open, carefully took the player out and tipped it upside down and then tipped it forward. We then closed the drawer while it was still upside down and then turned the player back up the right way. The loose CD fell onto the carousel and we could then open it and retrieve the CD. No damage to either CD or changer and we are now listening to music again!

Discs stuck inside CD Player. Screen says ''Reading.''

Try resetting the CD (Cambridge soundworks) by unplugging, then repluging. Then hold down the eject button while you turn on the power.

This is an easy fix if you are somewhat handy.... The belt for the door/tray is slipping. If you remove the enclosure and face plate, you will see two motors below the disc drive. Press eject while observing the pulley to the left. You should see the problem with the motor shaft spinning and the belt slipping. Replacing the belt is possible without any further dissassembly. Simply bend some light wire into an L shape and you should be able to hook both pulleys and lace the new belt on. As far as obtaining a new belt I decided to do the simple thing and use a slightly smaller rubber band. The repair has held now for almost three months and the player is used everyday. Good luck.
