Re: Updating ROM

The HP 6515 came in various instances from A through F from memory. you need to ensure you have the update for the right instance of the device. Under the battery is a sticker with the information you need, or maybe in the device config screen within the OS

Hi dis is ashish,, my hp ipaq6515 touch screen is not working n i am not able to switch it on witout touchscreen

Are you sure that your Device didn't hang while booting?
If no, then replace the touchpad. The Touchpad can be replaced, if you cant replace it in your area, buy another screen to simply solve the problem.
If yes, then flash your ROM with either an updated version (recommended) or the "follow-come" ROM.
Go to HP website to get the appropriate ROM.

I want to install an English operating system in my pda. The current system is Chinese. How do I do that

Hello, you can flash your phone with ROM provided by HP if you are with Windows Mobile 6.

"The Package contains ROM Update utility (RUU) only for products supporting the following SKU IDs. Supported SKU IDs: FA979AA#ABA, FA980AA#ABA, FA982AA#ABB, FA982AT#ABB, FA981AA#ABG, FA981AA#ARE, FA981AA#ACJ, and FA981AA#UUF."

You can find your Product ID by going here:
Start>Settings>AssetViewer>System>Product ID

If your Product ID match with these download ROM Update from Manfufactures web site and update your Pocket PC.

Just select your language: Chinese (Simplified); Chinese (Traditional); English (International); French; German; Italian ;Japanese; Korean; Portuguese (Brazilian); Russian; Spanish, from download section for your pocket pc.

It`s around a 38MB. Install it on your desktop machine and follow instructions provided by ROM Update program.

This is not new operating system installation, it`s just language update to your current installation.

How to use information, you can find on this section in manufactures web site.

I do not test it on this phone, use it with caution and on your own risk.

Initialization failure after rom update

Hi. I had this problem with my iPaq and there is a soloution. Unfortunatley. it is impossible to repair whilt you are running vista. HP insists that you run Windows XP or Erlier, with Active Sync installed. We can however give this repair a try. I would need to know first of all what country you are in, and which version of the 6515 you have. i.e a, b, c etc....

email me with the details and i'll email you back with the soloution.

I can't install a certain HP update.

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. Establish an Activesync connection between your iPAQ Pocket
PC and host PC.
3. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions
to install the Real Time Update.
4. Follow the instructions to perform a normal reset on the iPAQ Pocket PC.

on step 3 you should see the setup on your pdas screen do you see this?

Waiting for your reply. :)

You may be in need for a ROM update/reinstall. It is pretty easy to do that. You can either go at HP's web site and download a ROM update for your specific model. Make shure you select your operating sistem rigt. Or you can browse the internet for a specific ROM update for your model. I recomand the HP site, and if you have problems regarding the ROM update process, or the ROM and OS version you need, please reply here and I'll guide you throught. Good luck.
