Re: no singn light or sound

Did you check the power lead or the power supply in another pc. if you checked the power supply unit in another pc and it's fine, there is a faulty switch on your pc or faulty motherboard. Check that the 21 pin connector from the power supply unit to the motherboard is in properly as the psu will not work if disconnected from the board.

Led's only work one way, so it does'nt matter what colours they are. The led's that they connect to will only work when the plug is the correct way. You wont do any harm if they are wrong, you just turn them round. Plug them in one way and if the led for the hard drive does'nt come on then it's the other way. Same with the power light. The power switch when pressed just makes a momentary connection across 2 pins, so it does'nt matter which way, it's just like touching the pins quickly with a piece of metal.

Compaq presario desktop will not turn on

Check the power cables if it is working properly.
See if your AVR didn't blow a fuse or the switch is working and the led light are lighted or is powered on.
Test your pc's switch if it is still established contact and not unpluged from *********** board and is working properly.
Test your power supply by unpluging all plugs that is connected to your motherboard and try to short out, the green and black wire from pin 4 and 5 see picture below. Just put a small length wire at pin 4 and five and you'll be able to know if it is working just fine.

Connect it to your computer again if it is working properly.
Press the power switch.
If it still is not working, try to disassemble your processor, then press the power switch.
If it still did'nt work or still doesent turn on, then your motherboard is the broblem and needs to be replaced. Have a nice day friend, and hope this could help you analyze.

You should check the connections and you should also try another wall outlet, you the computer still not coming on you may have power supply problem, check to see if there is a switch on the power supply and set it to on if problem not solve you should replace the power supply.

Time to look for a new computer. That and take out your hard drive to copy your files over.

Sounds like motherboard problem. Probably not worth repair.

I've got an HP desktop with similar problems. It turned on one day just fine. The next day not. I don't even get the boot up screens. Disconnecting Hard Drive and CD/DVD components do not help. I should at least get some BIOS POST beeps and a Hard Drive Not Found or such. I do not. On occassion it will boot to a blank screen with white cursor in upper left. Most the time no screen at all. On rare occassion it comes right on and boots Windows. I guess it could be the power switch ... but I doubt that.

Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo 600. No power to processor.

Probably a PSU failure, although it could just be your power switch. Try shorting the power switch connections on the motherboard, if that doesn't work, replace the PSU with a standard ATX PSU. They're relatively cheap.

Emachine D2880 no power clarification

your getting power to your PSU, via the green light on your mobo.
verify the PSU has a green light(most emachines do)
it sort of sounds stupid but, check the connection of the cable coming from the front of the case(the wires that connect to the mobo to the power button on the outside of the case.

if all else fails, take the pc out of the case.. put all components on a static free bag and start to rebuild your PC(without a case)
...this will rule out a short on the PC case, and faulty wiring from the case...

pretty much sounds like you've been through almost every step except replacing the PSU(you just said you tested/but your getting power to the PSU)

hope some of this helped
