try looking into the Timer section on the TV. also on Dish if it is left unattended (like stay on same channel etc) it will go in to sleep mode, U then just hit the Select button.. U can go in the Dish menu and set the Sleep mode (inactivate mode ) to a longer time, I usually set my for 8 hours.
I would have thought you could just select a different source from the remote. Can't you do that? Usually press the source button a few times to go through the different options on the screen.Need to select the analogue tv through the antenna or else digital tv through the set top box I guess so you would need to select the right source where the box is connected.. Did you do the initial set up and let it auto tune all the analogue channels when you first plugged it in. I found this in the online manual but the preset button is one of the 3 menu items you can't select so you may not be able to follow this instruction any way.---------------------------------------------------5.Air/Cable selection You can select the signal receiving method according to the following steps:1) Press the MENU button to enter the main menu.2) Press the button to select the itemPRESET, and press the button to enterPRESET menu.3) Press the button to select the item tv source.4) Press the button to change the item among air, catv s, catv h and cath i.6.Channel search------------------------------------------------have you checked if the parental lock is on or if some of the channels are locked out from the initial channel set up screen? Saw someone else make a comment that they got the tv new and it had a vchip blocked when they first got it out of the box and lots of channels were locked off and took him 2 hours to figure out how to unlock it from the menu. Didn't say how he did it unfortunately. This is the manual if you don;t have one already any ways.
I had this problem aswell! I tried everything but ended up phoneing the help line, when they asked for what frequancies they found out i was picking up different ones form two different stations. I took the ariel out of the back on the freeview box and run a scan for channels (of course it came up with none as the ariel is unpluged but it overwirites and clears the incorect frequencies). Then plug the areil back into the freeview box and run a scan for channels. After doing this i picked up the correct frequencines form the correct station and my recordings actually recorded! If you phone the help line (08444159159) they will tell you what frequencies you should be picking up. I hope this qorkes for you!
I install at least 2-3 antennas a week. While Analog stations were no big deal when it came to reception, Digital signals are very directional, and can be very fickle about reception sometimes. Digital is "all or nothing," meaning that if you get enough signal to get a picture, then great, but if you don't, it won't allow you to even try to make the picture.
My suggestion is to first try a 15-25 dB amplifier (with an FM trap) on the antenna. Use it first in-line, immediately following the antenna, before it is fed to any TV's. If that doesn't help, try re-aiming the antenna directly toward the city from which your signals are being broadcast. You'd be suprised how little you have to turn it to make a big difference.
Give these two things a shot. Hope this helps you...
Your recording will record onto your one DVR box, for playback on either tv. On many satelite boxes you have to search for the program you want by entering the name. Then select the program and select to record the future broadcast.
Solved that problem by installing and over-the-air antenna and am in the process of firing my cable company. I will retain their internet service and go to a base package on satellite for the likes of my kids' favorite networks (Nick, Cartoon Net, Disney) and my Fox News Channel), but my programming options are already growing from 7 analog to 13 digital from off-air in recent months and another 2-5 different subchannels are likely in my market in the next 24-36 markets (for free). Why pay to watch commercials when they are free?
