You will have to remove the power cord, remove the batteryand remove the CMOS Battery that is located on the motherboard. On mostcomputers you will have to take the laptop apart to get to the cmosbattery. On some systems it looks like a silver nickel that you will needa small flat head screw driver to pop it out. On other systems it will beinside a vinyl covering and has a cable that plugs into the motherboard. Once you remove the CMOS Battery, let it sit for an hour or two then put itback in and put the laptop back together. Boot the machine and you'llprobably have to go into the Bios or System Setup because the system will haveforgotten the date, time and password. If the password is not cleared you will have to short the jumper on the motherboard to clear the password. Some systems make it easy by just having to remove a pin that connects two points on the board. The Password Jumper should be labeled on motherboard.

Remove BIOS battery. Short BIOS jumper or leave the battery out for a long time(Over night, maybe) This should default the BIOS to having no pass word present. If that doesn't work then evidently Dell has one within the BIOS . Just ask them.
