SOURCE: Danby DAC5020 Air Conditioner fan works but not compressor
It could be as simple as being low on refrigerant. Depends on how expensive the unit is if its worth recharging and how big the unit is. Some small units will need to have a recharge point fitted which cost more of course.
SOURCE: Will not cool properly.
You have either a faulty thermostat, dirty condenser and evaporator or a faulty run capacitor. Need to service soon before the compressor is damaged. Sea Breeze
SOURCE: sometimes compressor does not kick on
It sounds like the coolant charge is marginal. There are sensors that can monitor the pressure levels and can disable the compressor to prevent damage to it. You need a tech to check the system before you lose it completely. Figure on $100-120 cost for check and recharge if needed.
SOURCE: turn on unit starts blowing cold air for about
soulds like when it starts the high pressure switch kicks it out when you turn the power off you equalize the pressures check you coils and filter they need to be cleaned most likely this is the problem
SOURCE: our window unit will cool
The condenser in a window AC is a that winding pipe that's covered with aluminum fins on the outside. When the refrigerant EVAPORATES, it draws heat from your room. When it CONDENSES, it releases heat to the outside. It's basically a heat pump.
