Question about Pentax Optio S30 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Fall My Pentax S30 fell on the floor while inside its case. The pictures are now 'washed' (white). Is it reasonable or is it simply an inferior brad/model or just bad luck? Any suggestions? thanks!

Re: Fall

Most of digital cameras are sensitive to falls especially on a stiff surface. You just have a bad luck.

Monitor shows white out screen

You can try firmaware update (below link) if available for your model.

But the reason could be also the LCD screen connector inside the camera. So it may need service.

Pentax SMC D 16-45 Lens How to clean inside? Pictures are showing spots and all the outside lens have been cleaned along with the inside of the camera itself. Can not see the spots when taking pics only...

Your lens would need to be absolutely filthy with enormous dirt specks to cause the fault you describe. Dust, fingerprints, and regular minor debris simply doesn't show in the final image. In any case, you cannot clean inside the lens without dismantling it and that is a job for experienced specialists only.

Your fault is a dirty image sensor. You can buy sensor cleaning kits, but if you're inexperienced with them or trying to clean the sensor in a dusty environment you'll just make matters worse. Many camera shops offer sensor cleaning while you wait at relatively low cost. The reason you don't see the dirt when taking the picture is either because you're looking through the optical viewfinder or because the LCD screen simply doesn't magnify the image enough to show the marks which are present in the image.

You can prevent the dirt from reoccurring by never leaving the camera with the lens throat open for more than strictly necessary, and by always trying to keep the open lens throat pointing slightly down when swapping lenses.

I hope that I've helped, please take a moment to rate my answer.

Camera fell on floor and now wont open

Your camera would have to go back to Pentax or their factory rep for service. There is mechanical damage to the lens system and possibly to one of the circuit boards.

This type of damage will most likely not be covered by any warranties. These types of repairs can be very expensive in relation to the replacement value of the camera.

Pentax Optio 330 RS

Sorry we got cut off from the live chat. Here is the link to the manual if you need it; It sounds as though you have a problem with the shutter speed, first check again all the settings are ok and normal, try reset to defaults (page 78) and see if you get any change. It could be a mechanical problem, either sticking of the mechanism perhaps due to underuse or exposure to humidity or heat, or a problem with the drive motor for the shutter - maybe a battery problem giving a low voltage to the shutter drive, or to the clock in the processor slowing the shutter down. try a few very gentle slaps of the camera see if this frees something up, take the camera for a drive in your car on fairly rough roads for a while, or putting it on top of the washing machine (make sure it wont fall off) often works well to free up a stuck mechanism. It is just possible that the screen is to blame - see if you can view a picture taken before the problem started, or with a different camera, to see if the screen is the problem. Still no luck try pentax SA direct; Pentax customer service is normally excellent, and their cameras are usually worth getting fixed. Hope this helps, call me back if not :)

View images on TV

Hi again: About the black and white pictures on the TV... not normal I think... I have never seen your camera model but a common thing can happen to any camera!! Have you already tryed to connect the camera to your TV using a AC Adapter (D-AC8 in your case)? Are the connections Ok? You're connecting following the manual instructions? If you don't have it download it... :) Regards

My pentax optio s has fell on the floor.

It is not likely that camera drop damage will be covered under warranty. But it never hurts to ask. Regardless, you will need to contact Pentax about repairs. Repair location information should be in the documentation that came with the camera. Their website shows service centers: Camera drops are not uncommon. Sorry to hear yours was damaged.
