Laptop with broadband internet and router. how to connect PS3?
I bought a Netgear router to hook up to PS3/internet. The netgear wizard "can't detect my modem". I don't have cabel internet, I have Verizon wireless on my laptop and I don't have another computer. What do I need to get/ to do so netgear wzard will run? The Netgear box says I can connect my laptop, but gives no intructions as to how.

Re: Laptop with broadband internet and router. how to...
This is what you have to do:
First, disconnected the router form the PS3.
Connect the router to the incoming cable and setup from the laptop using the setup wizard.
Once you have connected to the IPS then disconnect the router, connected the PS3, then the router.
You should be able to connect to the Internet.

What are you trying to connect with ? A laptop? What kind? What OS are you using? If it's connected correctly and you can access the internet with a Ethernet Cable attached to the Netgear and the computer, it may be a computer wireless issue.
I think the broadband connection you are using is not enabled for NAT ( Network Address Translation).
This is required to give internet access to more than one system through a single internet connection.
If NAT is not enabled or supported by your broadband router then you cant access internet through more than one system simultaneously.
I dont think you need the drivers for Router. And first of all you need to connect your modem to your router through ethernet cable. And after connecting your modem, configure your wireless router by typing this IP address in internet explorer: 192.168.1.1 The user id is admin and the password is password. Then detect your broadband connection by using the option in the router. Try connecting your Laptop to wifi after setting the connection.
These are some reasons why your new Hp laptop can't connect through your Netgear Router is because your Router has a security that used a password to connect to your router or the ip address of your desktop and Dell laptop is already setup to the router to work with internet.
For Set-Up Procedure follow these steps:- 1)Connect the Modem to the Internet port of the NETGEAR router and the computer to any of the four LAN ports. 2)Open an Internet Explorer browser and type the router IP address which would be either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar and press Ente The Login window will prompt for the router configuration username and password. The default username is “admin” and the default password is “password” 3)Click Setup Wizard on the top left corner, Select Yes for the Setup Wizard to detect the type of internet connection and click Next. 4)The Setup Wizard will detect the type of Internet connection. For Cable Internet connections, Setup Wizard will detect Dynamic IP. Click Next 5)You do not have to change the default settings unless your ISP has given you specific DNS information which must be configured so smiply without changing anything click apply. 6)The router will now save these settings. When complete, you can verify whether you are connected to the internet from the Router Status > Maintenance menu. 7)Under Router Status you will have Internet Port , If you have the Ip Address Under Internet port you will have the wired connectivity then.
Wireless Connectivity Steps:- On the left hand side you will have the blue/purple column in their under the category you set-up you will see a sub-title wireless setting's, left click on that option and then do the setting's.This link will guide you how to do that:- http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/112/related/1
Steps for Wireless Connectivity on MAC:- 1)Click on the apple icon on the left hand side of the start screen and go to system preferences. 2)Under system preferences a category name internet and network select the title network from there. 3)Under Network you will have an option for airport to turn it ON so do that and then below you will see list of networks available , from that list select the network you created , enter the password if it's secure one and you will be good to go from ther on and will have an internet access.
Please note that the USB Modem will not cause issues related to IP address conflict(NAT behing NAT)
You need to mak sure that the USB modem is compatible with this router. As per the compatibility list this modem is comaptible. http://www.netgear.com/Landing/en-us/3G_uSB_Modems
Please reset the router once and then upgrade the firmware on the router which can be downloaded from thelink below:
I understand that you want to connect the PS3 using the Wireless card and NETGEAR card. Please note that the setup you have will not work for internet access. You can not configure the Air card to work with NETGEAR router. you need to have wih a broadband connection available for this router to connect to internet.
Once you have the router configured with Internet access then you may either connect the PS3 wired or wireless to the router, like you connect a desktop or laptop to the router.
