Question about Refrigerators
Your refrigerator has a type of defrost heater which rairly fails, and the other two components of defrosting are a terminating thermostat and the adaptive defrost control (4388932) but I suspect there is a reason you are getting unusual frost formation. I'd look for some source of outside air entering the refrigerator. Check all door gaskets, especially the bottom and corners. Also, pay attention to the ice duct door to make sure it is sealing with no ice holding it partially open, etc. Air infiltration may be something as simple as a door which hit on a food package and did not close completely. Some refrigerators control their run time by freezer temp, and if it is getting warm due to frost build up preventing proper air flow it is conceivable that this could result in prolonged run time, resulting in freezing in the fresh foods compartment.
