Question about Dell Inspiron E1505 Notebook

1 Answer

Keyboard Malfunction I have a Dell Inspiron 1505. When I am typing my cursor will suddenly end up in another portion of the text (in particular after striking the "Y" but also randomly). Is there anything that will fix it? Nothing has spilled on it. Is it a cleaning issue?

Does the laptop have a touch pad type mouse device on it? If so, you might accidently be hiting the touch pad with the sides of your palms or thumbs while you are typing a document.

Dell inspiron 1505 types xxxxxxxxxxx by itself

Your keyboard most likely has a stuck "x" key, try lifting it up so it is not stuck in the down position. If this does not fix the problem then the keyboard needs to be replaced.

Update the driver for your Keyboard/Touchpad. Got to Dell's Download Page. Enter your Service Tag, underneath your laptop, to get the correct list of drivers for the corresponding model of your laptop. Make sure to select the correct operating system. The touchpad drivers are located in the Input Device Drivers section, listed as Dell Touchpad / Pointing Stick, Alps - Driver or Synaptics - Driver.

After installation, go to the Windows 7 Start or Orb then in the
type main.cpl, click main.cpl in the list of programs.

1. Click the Dell Touchpad tab.
2. Click Touchpad Settings.
3. Make sure there is a check in the box to the left of TouchCheck, move the slider bar all the way to the right (this can always be adjusted back).
4. Uncheck the box to the left of Tap to Click.
5. Move the slider in the Touch Sensitivity area to the right until it is 3/4 of the way toward Heavy Touch.
6. Click Apply, then click OK.
7. Click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.

Please go to start menu> then programs> accessories> accessibility> onscreen keyboard. Open a notepad and try to type using the onscreen keyboard. If the keys are working using the onscreen keyboard, then you need to get the keyboard replaced. You can contact Dell if your system is under warranty.

Dell Inspiron 1505 laptop: numlock doesn't work. Any help appreciated!

If the numlock key is not working at all, try to tear down your laptop by removing the keyboard itself out from your laptop. But if your hesitating to do that, just simply call DELL technical support for assistance and in a case that the numlock is not totally working at all, then they can able to replace the keyboard or the motherboard, depending on the troubleshooting that could be done. Make sure that your laptop still under warranty coz if not then it is required for you to buy a keyboard that fits for your Inspiron 1505. And if in a case that bad is the motherboard, then it should be replace. Thank you.

Some keys stop working on keyboard

The particular keyboardpart must have gone. I had his problem with my Dell some years back. I removed the entire laptop, removed and reinstalled teh keyboard wire to the motherboard..and the problem did not arise. Happens whenever over heating occurs.
