    wha tis the exact problme?

"pending" doesn't really tell me too much.

are you trying to connect the PC to a wireless or using wired modem to conenct to the Internet?

You do need a Windows XP CD not a copy becaue you are going to need the serial key.
wihtou the key, you will be able to use it for 14 days, after that you have to buy it.

to install Windows XP:
inssert eh CD into teh CD drive and boot up the machine. pay attention to the screen, the "start Windows XP from CD...." will disappear after 10 sec. press enter and just follow the screen, format and install the operating system is pretty much automated.
you do nee to the eepc web site to download the device driver you need in order for the machine to work right.

please post any additional question in this thread. so we can follow and help you.

No wireless connection

I am assuming you're referring to the Asus Eee PC 701SD... if so, try the following:1. Check the hotspot to see what kind of IP address it is using [are they manually configured, or is there a DHCP server that assigns IP addresses] 2. Check your 701 and make sure its network connectivity conforms with the settings on the hotspot

Won't connect to wireless internet

Try re-installing the hardware. Your drivers may be currupt. It could also be that the wireless card is not detecting a strong enough signal to connect, try searching for other connections. If the problem presists. It may be a hardware malfunction. In that case you'll need to replace the wireless adaptor. If you still cannot connect, contact your local PC repair shop.

Unable to connect EEEPC 701 to BT HOME HUB 2

sometimes the best thing to do is start over.

reset any hubs, routers, switchers, etc.
then (just fro now) remove any firewalls,
or software that may get in the way.
You want to start with a bare minimum configuration and build from there.

eeepc works well with windows networks, the ethernet connection should just work, without additional software.

does eepc connect to other networks?
can other laptops connect to your network?
check all settings: ip address, dhcp or static, passwords, etc.

Try a "wired" ethernet connection, then try the wireless connection. if all else fails, use F9 (or DVD disk to reset/reload the system. i.e. start over.

Wireless connection pending

I have seen this problem with many of my clients. Here is a way to correct your WLAN connection problem:

1: Choose "Network" in the Internet option, disconnect it and then delete the Connection in the "Manage".

2: Click "Create" to recreate the connection, choose "Local Area Network- Wireless", then Next.

3: Choose "Next".

4: Select Address Type, and then Next.

5: Browse Wireless Networks and then choose the one you want to use, you should see your wireless router/modem and the signal should show "Excellent" or "Very Strong". Choose the mode to be "infrastructure" and the Transfer rate to be "auto", and then Next.

6: Wireless Channel Settings, choose any channel.

7: If your AP is using the WEP or WPA encryption, you need to choose "Enable encryption" and then input the Key and Key index, (If you want your connection secured, you should use WPA and select a key index.) choose Next.

8: Fill in the Name of connection, then choose Next.

9: You can choose the "Connect automatically at system startup" or "Start this connection when finished" if you want, and then choose Finish.

This should correct your connection issues. Good Luck.

Wireless connection

Same happened to me so I gave it a kick start, sort of like jump starting the car.

Wifi should be on. A blue light on your right of your keyboard should be on to confirm that.
That's why you have no luck.
Press FN and F2 together at the same time and a little box will come up with saying it's on. Do the same to switch off..

You got to setup a Local Area Connection through your connection wizard. Restart your computer to get it going.
Turn on all your wireless connect it through your router and hit the wireless networks on your eeepc, it should show your wireless and Lan. Ok, now click on wireless, make sure it's your wireless and not another connection.
Don't forget to restart your computer after you've created the connection because otherwise it won't work.

If you still have no connection, go to your connections left click on wireless once and click on properties. On this page you'll see your IP address and DHCP server, scroll down and you'll see signal strength, that means you can connect but we need one more thing done.
Now go to sharing tab and click on share this connection with local area network connections, boom, boom, restart the computer and remember if you still have a prob then you need to go the TCP/IP page input the DHCP your server name their IP Address at client identifier and then restart.
Linux needs a kick start, but once you get it up and going you'll be surfing in no time. I went to hell and back and figured it all out myself, that's my help to guys, good luck!
