My hp dv1010us is running slow even with a super fast internet connection. it takes a long time to load pages and is slow going from one page to another; slow when i am in gmail writing text, just really...

I would check to make sure you don't have viruses or anything of that sort. I recommend trying any one of these (free) programs (but don't use them all, as you'll have issues between them): - AVG is a pretty solid company and has been around for a while - Avast! is one of my personal favorites.

Run their security suites and see if it picks up anything. If you've got viruses then there's more to it than these will be able to help and you may need to talk to a specialist. Chat me back and I can help you more with that.
Hope this helps, and don't forget to rate me.Thanks.

Hi i have compaq presario c700 its too slow discr

If you have changed OS, your problem probably is not due to malware or bloat.
Upgraded to 2gb ram, new hard drive. And still you think it is too slow.
I think either you are too fussy, and expect too much OR your laptop has major problems at a chipset level.
Have you tried running some benchmark software to check if it really is running slow???

I would Do a fresh install of windows, SELL it and change to a different model.
Try checking a couple of reviews on sites like Custom PC, for a good fast laptop.

Hp 530 laptop is very slow and freezes

Well, The problem can be caused by many many reasons such as outdated hardware, overload startup programs, corrupt registry issues, too many junks, virus attack, poor security software taking too much system resources, remnants of uninstalled applications etc. The fact is, you should keep some system maintenance job regularly. If you don't want to do these manually, try the hp speed up tool to give a free & full scan of your slow HP PC to find & fix all possible issues.

Meanwhile, upgrading hardware configuration (add RAM, change a new video card, larger-volume HDD etc) can be a fast yet effective way to improve your pc performance. But that won't be the most economical way, as you know you can't always afford to do that.

Yes. The specifications say the MAX memory is 8GB

    Memory 4096MB Memory Max 8192MB
You should go to and run their online tool for ram upgrades. It will tell you exactly how much and what type of memory to add.

    Slow laptop, canot upgrade

It cannot be upgraded farther by hardware. You should be able to run xp there. Any lower requirement linux distro is also fine if you like.

Laptops are now-a-days not too costly. May also think about a new one.

HP Pavilion DV2000 running very slowly

Yes! I would not recommend anything below 2GB at minimum. I have one laptop with 2GB and one with 3GB: they both open programs and browse the internet very quickly. Even with just two programs open (Internet Explorer and Outlook 2007) it uses 1.1GB of memory.

Definitely upgrade your memory. I recommend this site:

Just pick your model and they recommend the memory to pruchase. TIP: order with next day shipping - it's only $10. The free shipping takes 14 days. So unless you're patient (I'm not) the $10 many be worth it.

    Add memory to HP/Compaq nc6000?

Yes you should increase the memory. XP runs suitably well at 512mb. At 1GIB it blazes.

The memory meter is pegged because it is having to use the Harddrive as ram (Swapfile) which is 1000x slower than RAM.

XP with nothing on it, straight from the factory will run with 256, but after 3-6 months of use, and adding applications it will get progressively slower.
