Hi Wandawang,

I'm going to respond assuming the sensor you are referring to is the S3 stride sensor. If I am wrong, please let me know.

The S3 stride sensor uses a 2.4gHz frequency so when teaching the new sensor to the RS800 be sure to stay away from electrical equipment like cordless phones, wireless internet..etc.. This could be your issue.

Another issue could be that when replacing the battery, you bent the battery contacts in the sensor. So now the battery is not making a good contact with the sensor. You can fix this by taking the battery out of the sensor, and looking at the battery contact on the outer edge of the compartment. Take a pen, or small pair of pliers and bend those contacts back towards the battery. Place the battery back in, making sure the "open" is lined up to the "open" line on the battery cap. Insert the cap from the back end first and put pressure where the open symbol is to close the cap.

If this does not solve your issue, please contact us directly at

Best regards,

-Chris @ Polar USA

Chris Zoller is a genius. I was frustrated thinking I had busted my S3. Four batteries later I read this post and BOOYAH! Stepped about 40 feet away from my internet wireless modem and bent the little wire toward the battery. Fantastic. Works as good as new once again.

I had this problem as well. What I found was that the transmitter path from the magnetic sensor to the computer is very narrow, a 15 degree cone. Reposition your computer to fall within this cone. It should pick up the signal.

As much as I hate to go straight to the 'reboot it' bin, if it's acting wierd maybe it needs a reboot.

The speed (and worst of all distance) was droppping out now and then also the heart rate would hit 200 when rolling down hill. I think I have fixed this problem by leaving the phone at home. I've ridden...

2 Seperate issues:

Heart Rate - The CS200cad uses a coded transmission for the HR, When you have a HR that spikes that high, it is because for some reason the signal has not coded correctly. Here are a number of ways to help with that issue.
1. Make sure you have good contact between your chest strap and your skin.
2. Make sure the Heart rate sensors on the strap are wet. Or use a conductive cream to improve contact.
3. Make sure the strap is on correctly. Up high on the chest just under breasts, Polar symbol centered on chest and upright. Strap tight enough to keep from slipping
4. If the strap is older, make sure it is clean. Salt can build up in the strap.
5. If the strap is over 2 years old consider replacing.
6. Check Battery

For the Speed/ Distance - Same sensor (front) make sure that the magnet on the wheel is within 1-2mm of the Fork sensor. The magnet should align in the middle of the sensor, with the sensor just slightly angled into the magnet. When the magnet and sensor have a good signal a small red light will flash and you may hear a click when the wheel is rotated. If none of this works you have a low battery and will need to replace that front sensor.

Just bought a new polar CS100B cycle computer. Installed in on my bike but the speed is not registering at all.

Check the distance and aligment between the magnet on the wheel and the sensor on the fork, if too far it will not works properly.

Bicycle computer won't register speed

You don't mention the brand and model. Is this a wired or wireless computer? Strong batteries, line of sight between the unit and the sensor and a maximum distance is specified for wireless ones.

Take a magnet and manually wave it past the pickup on the fork while watching the computer. If it doesn't sense the pulses it might have a broken wire (if wired) or be too far away or have weak batteries (if wireless).

I have a polar cs200. There is a visual display but nothing works while I ride. I replaced the battery but that didnt help. I put the computer next to the sensor but there is no response. Any suggestions....

The most likely problem is that the battery in the sensor that goes on your front fork needs to be replaced. The easiest way to tell if it that's the problem is to position the magnet on the wheel close to the sensor and then move it quickly back and forth a couple of inches. If you do not hear a clicking sound then your sensor battery is dead

Infra red connection does not work ! Speed sensor does not work !

I had an infrared connection problem with my Polar Heart rate/ Cycle Speedo and in the end it was the Infrared USB receiver i had plugged into my pc which was busted. As soon as i tried a friends Infrared receiver it worked. If that is not the case with yours then maybe the infrared receiver's drivers are not installed on your pc,stopping it working.

With your speed sensor not working,it could either be the batteries in the wheel sensor or the actual polar watch are low or flat or the wheel sensor is not close enough to the small magnet that should be attached to one of the spokes on the wheel. They should be set so that they are almost touching, about 2-4mms apart.

Hope that helps, let me know more detailed info if you still have trouble

Polar CS 200 chest strap appears to be sending signal to the HRM sporadically, and therefore heart rate displays zero. I changed the battery, but this did not help.

Just read that you need to wash the belt in a washing machine and/or check the snaps for corrosion. My 200sd is doing the same thing so will try this when I get home tonight.
