Sportster headlight problem

SOURCE: 2001 Harley Sportster 1200 headlight not working.

ok youve done alot great job, now trace until you get voltage. follow that wire back until you get voltage in other words. if you have any kind of diagram your problems solution is sooo simple. i am a technician btw.

Their is a fuse box next to the battery that has a few fuses in it and a few extras. Bulbs fail often though and a bad bulb can look good. If you touch the lens of the bulb with your finger the oils in your skin can make even a new bulb fail in a few seconds. With a test light cannected to the battery ground( negitive) ( a test light is a tool that looks like an ice pick with a wire coming out the end of the handle with a clip on the end, the handle is clear and has a bulb inside, with the clip connected to ground ( metal of the bike or car or the neg of the battery the light will light as the tip is touched to a pulg or wire thats live with power, if you connect theclip to power then the light will light as the tip is connect to a good ground) With the key on touch the lioght to the plug and it'll light on the terminals that are live with power then connect the light to power and see the terminals that are ground ( you ned both for the light to light) The high beam low beam switch can be open and the wires going to this swich can be tested the same way. f the bike has hit some hard bumps or other hard licks their may be a wire disconnected and looking at all the wiring and unpluging and replugging these connectors can find the problem as dirt or crosion can get into the plugs and get thingsa working.
