Make sure you haven't selected the wrong input using the input or source button on your remote control. You may have to cycle through several choice until you get to TV or Tuner or something similar. Cycle slowly, some TV's take a few seconds to render the picture one you choose a different input source.

I have a vizio 47 inch led smart TV this TV has no

It will be best to try to get its original remote control, rather than using a universal remote control with this set Vizio. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.

To exit the factory mode, you should have its remote control. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. Without its remote control, no other way. Contact the authorized service center.

If my TV acts like it is locked but is not then what is wrong with it?

When an Insignia TV is locked, it keeps you from watching all of your channels by only displaying a black screen. Insignia TVs are locked from a single button command on the remote control, so it is easy for you to lock the TV by accident. Since Insignia TVs can be locked so easily, it's important to know how to undo this command and unlock the TV yourself. So, unlock your Insignia TV with the push of a button and once again enjoy watching your favorite programs.
• Find the lock button on the Insignia remote control. The lock button is located on the third column from the left on the second row from the top of the remote.

•Stand within operating range of the Insignia TV, then aim the remote at the TV's receiver and press the "Lock" button on the remote control.

• Aim the remote at the TV and press the channel buttons to make sure the TV is unlocked. When the TV is locked, it shows a black screen and does not allow you to view anything else. If the screen remains black, press the "Lock" button again. If this doesn't work, change the batteries in the remote and start over at step .

I have connected my laptop to my sony 40ex403 bravia. The screen is centred on the tv screen. How do get it to full screen size?

Hello.
On your TV remote control there is button "Picture mode" or similar name. You can change image to "zoom" or "wide" by using it. Sometimes if in "zoom" mode it still not fill whole screen - you have to change display settings in you notebook for external display.
Regards.
Russ.

While watching a dvd the sides of the tv screen are black.

Try adjusting the picture with the Ratio button on your remote control (positioned on the top area of the remote), this should give you different sizes to fill the screen, it can also depend on which format the DVD film has been produced in.
