Question about Toshiba Satellite P105-S6024 Notebook

Removing old user's data

I bought this notebook second hand and the previous user did not remove all their stuff. Consequently, they are still listed as the user under most applications (the list that shows up under Processes when you do a control alt delete) and retain a user file. The first thing we did was to modify the user under the control panel and now my name shows up on the startup screen as the only user.
What do I have to do to fix this? Do I have to reformat the machine and reinstall all software?

The best and safest solution is to reformat the machine, and reinstall. You don't know where or what the previous user had on their system and that would be the safest thing to do. Alternatively, you can go through the registry and replace each instance of their user name with yours, but this takes a long time and it's not a 100% guarantee.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

I want to remove a second id but keep my main id account

Go to Administrative Tools --> Computer Management. On the left hand side you should see Local Users and Groups. Click users. In the main it will list the local users for your computer. Just right click the user name and select delete. BTW, you cannot delete the user that you are signed in as. You will need to be signed in under a separate user than the one you wish to delete. Given that your description states that you are wanting to remove a secondary account then I don't see any of this being an issue.

So i bought an ACER ASPIRE ONE D255 red slick color laptop recently, now it's only second hand but it works fine. i checked the audio, video and it's ok. i have two problems: -when i would try and play...

Regarding the unexpected errors on playing games like solitaire or minesweeper on your D255...
As it is second hand, there may be hardware or software problems or both. Software problems can be eliminated by doing a restore of the notebook to its factory image and settings as follows...
1. power off the notebook completely and then power on again
2. during the start-up, press Alt key (to left of space bar) and F10 key together repeatedly
3. wait several minutes for Acer eRecovery to load
4. after loading eRecovery, use the up and down cursor keys to select restore type.
5. following is from the initial screen for Acer eRecovery Management (V7.0.10)
Select Restore Type
[>] Completely Restore System to Factory Defaults
Restore your PC to factory default status.
All data on C: drive will be deleted.
[>] Restore Operating System and Retain User Data
Restore only the operating system of your PC to the factory defaults.
Files from your user accounts will be transferred to C:\backup.
This option will not remove persistent viruses or malware.
[>] Exit

Regarding WiFi problem...
1. may just need to turn on the WiFi by pushing the slide switch for it at the front right of the D255
2. you would do this after restoring to factory defaults above to ensure no software problems....

How do I remove all the deleted e-mail from my pc because I got a message telling me I have used all the 20 space i am intartle

Just click the Start button and click Run (or Search if you are using Vista or Win 7). Type the command and then press the Enter key: cleanmgr
Click OK on the next screen. Windows will calculate the files it can compress and delete and will give you a list after a little time. It may take a few minutes as it says.
Select or unselect, whether you want to delete or not and press OK. Click Yes when asked.
Once again, start the cleanup manager using the above method. This time, click on More Options. You have a few more options to free up space on drive C. You can free up quite an amount of space by using the second and third cleanup buttons. Use them. use the third button first, for removing the old restore points.
After removing the unwanted or very old and unused programs and old system restore points, click on OK
Want to free some more space? Copy stuff from your Documents or My Documents folder to another drive or partition if you have (like D or E), on the hard disk. Or just move the old/unwanted stuff to a CD/DVD.
Hope that helps. Regards, Raspal

Bought a laptop and can't get passed the password screen

If this is a BIOS password, it will be difficult to to bypass without removing the CMOS battery.

If it is a windows password, you will need to reinstall the OS.

Connecting to a Mac Airport

There are many reasons why your laptop is not connecting. First of all make sure that you have the right type of security selected (eg, shared wep key, wpa) Next you may need to create a wireless profile. Another is removing old previously connected networks from your network list.
