Hi,

If you are referring to the subwoofer speaker wires, normally, speaker wires of any length are available from most electronic stores and/or audio/video stores. Even those shops that do car audio installations would have them in their inventory. The only requirement/specification you would need is the power output of your system and the required length. The longer the distance, the bigger the wires the better.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

I think your set up is correct. The only other thing you may have to do is to set the sound on your TV to 'External Speaker' (or something similar) from your TV's remote accessing the menu.

Try differnt speakers, if they do not produce sound, amp channels may be blown and then you need to take it to a shop.

I have a Fisher RS-909 Surrond Sound amplifier. It has no "sub out" jack. I had the sub-woofer working in the past by wiring it as shown in the manual. The problem is that the system was in...

Alright i had a chance to look over things, this is how you are going to hook up the sub. first we'll be connecting the surround sound unit to the sub woofer.
surround sound unit sub woofer
left front: positive (+) <-----to------------->(+) left speaker level in
negative ( - )<- - -to- - - - - - ->( - ) left speaker level in

right front: positive (+) <-----to------------->(+) right speaker level in
negative ( - )<- - -to- - - - - - >( - ) right speaker level in

now that the surround sound unit is connected to the sub woofer you will need to connect the front surround sound speakers to the sub woofer.
sub woofer front surround sound speaker
left speaker level out (+)<-----to--------> (+) left front speaker
left speaker level out( - ) <- - - to- - - - ->( - ) left front speaker

right speaker level out (+)<-----to--------> (+) right front speaker
right speaker level out( - ) <- - - to- - - ->( - ) right front speaker

Alright now that the wires are all over the place and plugged in
turn everything on and see how it sounds. let me know if everything is working as it should. if you need help with anything else or if something does not seem right please feel free to contact me via e-mail or phone

When setting up my receiver the subwoofer is not putting out sound. It is connected and on.

hi,
first of all check ur sub woofer is it working or not. for that pull out its RCA connection from the receiver. power on the sub woofer and touch RCA's middle pin with ur finger. if its working it will produce a hum. if ok, go for the next,

do the following setup in ur av receiver
press menu and select manual setup and press enter
in manual setup select speaker setup and press enter
in the speaker setup select sub woofer and turn it on .
ok

I have an onkyo reciver and 7.1 speaker system. The powered sub-woofer keeps timing out and when I run the automatic speaker test on the reciever, it does not see the sub-woofer. I checked the reciver...

I assume you mean the subwoofer remains silent during the test. Perhaps the subwoofer is where we should be looking.

If you jack it into one or both of the Tape Out connectors and play some music with substantial low bass, does it make any sound? This would at least prove it is alive.

I lost my remote control and I want to turn on my sub woofer manually through my receiver. How do I turn on my sub woofer.

Perhaps I misunderstand the question.

Depends on the Sub. Most powered subs will go into standby mode in the prolonged absence of a signal. Then they wake up when you play something.

Or are you saying you need to Enable the Sub, as in setup? Remote probably required for anything like that.

RCA Sub-Woofer

Did you try making sure the subwoofer is turned on under the set up menu on the Sony Receiver?

Press Set Up, Press the left or right button above the scroll wheel until you get to SW. It should say SW: ON or SW: OFF. If it says SW: OFF, use the Scroll wheel to scroll right until it says SW: ON. Also, make sure you aren't in 2CH mode, try A.F.D or surround sound.
