TV needs screen volts adjustment, screen volt control knob is located on flyback transformer. Turn On tv and rotate screen volt (G2) control knob clockwise little bit to increase volts to get picture. This problem related with picture tube as its performance seems weak and causing problem.
Please pull front speaker grill and find focus block, fixed at corner having 6 control knobs on it. Find Blue Screen control knob there. Put your TV in AV mode to get dark screen and just press Display button on remote to have AV display. Now
slightly rotate control knobs counter clock wise until thin lines
(retrace) disappear. Job is done and put back speaker grill, press
display button again to disappear screen display.
1st set Brightness and Contrast settings to 50% at tv menu.
You need to cover 2 CRTs with any thing like thick paper while adjusting 3rd CRT.
For example, lets adjust Red CRT G2 volts, Select audio-video input 1 and cover green and blue lens with paper note-book and rotate Screen control up to level where you see retrace lines on projection screen, now decrease screen volts (G2) so retrace lines disappear and projection screen should be blank.
Now do same process with green and blue adjustment while other lenses should be covered.
Im not sure I conveyed it to you properly or not because English is not my 1st language.
HI: I think you have some serious problems here. First changing a picture tube is never easy. The yoke is bonded. There are basic alignments on the neck. Coolant containment, etc. Second, it is always recommended to change all three tubes, because you will not get a good gray scale balance. Third: the flash was probably the combo g2 controls shorting out. Also I am unsure what you mean by only curved lines on the screen. This could be a loss of proper voltages, because of the shorted g2`s, or another problem, because of the voltage surge, burning out other circuits.
You are in the range were I would recommend to my customer, not to repair it.
Hi, I have a similar problem with mine. but mine doesn't cut out. I tried keeping my finger on the reset button, on the remote control, and shut the TV off. When I put it back on, it's not flashing anymore. So far, it's about 4 hours and it's not flashing yet. Hopefully it will not. It's worth a try. Hope this helps.
