I have been fixing wii's for a while now but have come hit a brick wall on this particular unit
I have a wii with a disk read problem, so i replaced the laser to no avail, so i tried replacing the board, still no go.
Does anyone have any ideas, any tips would be much appreciated

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm you that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show you step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide

-   Hell yes, blow in it...blow in every freaking hole on the *****--this will do it...or send it back to Nintendo and they'll blow in it and send it back to you...damn, you gamers are jackasses.-   Guest

-   Every time I switch on from cold it takes 5 or 6 attempts before the console will read the disk. I go through the motions of ejecting, switching off, wait then switch on again before after several attempts it works. Once working no problems. Console is in vertical position and I am only using original game disks.-   EdAnd

Hi. First of all... a few questions: Are you using a backup copy or original disc when the read error occurs?
Does the disc missread everytime, or is it occuring randomly?
Are you having the wii in its vertical stand or is it flat on the table?
Did you replace the whole laser assembly with drivecurcuit and all?
Did you replace the wii's motherboard, or the drive circuit board?
Answer theese and we'll see if I can't help you get closer to an answer. //baghera
