At boot press F8 to get to safe mode. Only the minimum required drivers will be loaded. If this works and you are in safe mode then you can access the restore points or these two utilities: Start>Run then type msconfig. There you can see what programs are starting automatically and stop or start them with the check boxes. This is a safe way to go as you can do or undo things with check boxes. Those error codes are mostly meaningless if you aren't a programmer. You can also go to the Command prompt and type: sfc /scannow which will check all of your system files and restore them. Typing 'chkdsk /p' will do a similar operation upon reboot after initiating that command. If you do know alot about command line queries then there are alot of boot configuration tools to use but you wouldn't be asking here if you already are experience in that type of troubleshooting. Type 'help' or the command (like bootcfg /?) to see the options of that command. Pressing F12 at start up will give you one-time boot options. Last Known Good Configuration gets you just that. If you cannot get to Safe Mode then you will have to boot to your XP cd where you can reinstall xp, repair xp or perform what is called an "inplace upgrade" which allows you to install a sort of parallel install of xp that is useful if you need to rescue data before wiping your hard drive for a new install. You never mentioned what happened just prior to this casualty so I have to assume that you don't know and just pretend that I have your computer here without a repair tag. ~Steve Medley

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
