Question about Nikon COOLPIX L4 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Lens repair I dropped the camera on a muddy field. After drying it has recovered, but there is a remaining spot on the pic's.The spot is more distinct at tele zoom setting, and hardly visible at wide mode. I cannot remove it by cleaning the the lens outside. I guess there is some adhering particle on an internal lens surface. Is it possible to fix it on my own?

Some of my pictures have a spot on them. like a "water" spot. i thought i was on the lens but two or three pics will be ok then one will spot. any clue?

The clue was that not all of your pictures had this spot or two. What I expect from what your wrote is that these spots are what is called lens flair. It's caused by a strong point of light entering the lens at an angle. Such points of light are common in landscapes on a bright sunny day, reflection off water or some other shiny surface. If the camera was used at night the "spots" could be coming from a street light. Most of the time it's the sun, the only way to stop this is first to be aware that it could happen when the camera is pointed to an gale of the sun. What you do for a point and shoot is hold your one hand over and above the lens sort of like the peak on a cap. Make sure your hand is high enough to be out of the camera field of view but still offer some shade to the lens. I do this but normally with the camera mounted to a tripod and i use my hat.

Water behind lens of Canon Powershot

If you can see condensation, then please do not switch on the camera.

Let it dry off. You could mildly use a blower(hair dryer) to dry , but not very powerful.

Once the condensation is dried, then if light spot remain and does not interfere in the quality of the photgraphs, it might go away in time. But if it is bothering you. Then you better take it to the nearest Canon service center, who will open and service your camera.

Best of luck.

Spots on pics

I suggest you send it back to repair shop to clean ccd area. there are fine dusts in ccd screen area that camera need to be disassemble and removed and cleaned. I do not think the LCD is the problem. Some point and shoot models dust flowing through more than some others and if I am not mistaken, it seems this model has dust problem.
