Printer not printing. only certian text (minimal) Light colour (Black) I have replaced all ink with genuine cartriges. HP 3110 all in one printer. Printer 2 years old.

  1. In the program being used for printing, click File , and then click Print .
  2. The Print window opens.
  3. Make sure the appropriate product is selected, and then click Preferences or Properties . The Preferences/Properties window opens.
  4. Click the Printing Shortcuts tab. Consider modifying some or all of the options in the Printing Shortcuts menu to increase print quality.
    • Print quality : If the quality of the printouts is not acceptable, try increasing the print quality. To print more quickly, try decreasing the print quality.
    • Paper type : If one of the options matches the paper type exactly, select it instead of Automatic .
    • Paper size : Make sure that this option matches the paper loaded in the product.
    To see additional options, click the Advanced tab, and then click Advanced Features . The Advanced Features window opens. Consider changing the following option: Ink volume : Adjust the amount of ink that prints on a page. For lighter images (less ink), drag the slider to the left. For darker images (more ink), drag the slider to the right. The lighter the ink volume, the more quickly the printout dries.
  5. Also do a print head alignment
  6. Try increasing the resolution

Another problem that occurs is if the printer has been left standing for a length of time the ink can dry out inside the nozzels of the printer. You can over come this by using a small amount of Ink cleaning flud (available from most pc shops) & some cotton buds. Depending on the model of you HP printer & the software you have installed will depend how you do this job.
First of all use your HP software & follow the procedure to install a new cartridge. This should bring the cartridge carrier to a position where you can access the cartridges. Then one by one (if you have multiple cartridges installed) remove a cartridge & look in to the bay where the cartridge sits. You should be able to see a number of small holes & possibly some small electrical contacts. Unplug the printer from both the power supply & the pc (not by shutting the printer down or it will try to move the cartridge carrier back to it's home position) & then dip the one end of the cotton bud in the ink cleaning fluid.Wait for any excess fluid to drip off the bud & then very gently dab the area in the cartridge bay to remove any excess coloured ink that may have built up. Once the tip of the bud has changed colour use another bud & repeat the dabbing process with a little more cleaning fluid. Never return an already used bud to the cleaning fluid bottle as this will contaminate the fluid and then contaminate the remaining cartridge bays in the printer. Once you have removed the excess ink from the bay, use a dry bud & gently dry out the area. Finally repeat the whole process on the cartridge where the ink is seen to be collecting & then dry that area. Then replace the cartridge to the carrier & repeat the whole process for the next cartridge untill you have cleaned all of them.
NOTE: Never use an already used cotton bud on another cartridge colour or this will contaminate the ink both inside the inkjet nozzles & the cartridge itself & you will not get the correct colour printed on your paper.
Once you have done all the cartridges & bays & have put the cartridges back in their correct position, close the lid to the carrier & the lid to the printer if necessary then reconnect the pc & the power supply & switch the printer back on. Follow the procedure in the HP Software to replace the cartridges & then realign as requested. You should find an option that says 'Clean Print Nozzles' or 'Calibrate Print Cartridge' & then follow the instructions to do that. The printer will then purge each cartridge & with any luck force out any remaining blockage on to your paper. You may need to do this 2 or 3 times but in my experience once is usually enough. You should then have all your colours working as before.

I recently had this same problem what you have to do is go in your printer settings control, and do an alignment... This worked for me, hopefully it will work for you

Why is my printer not printing right


This sounds like the chip on the ink cartrige, try cleaning the chip or replacing the red magenta ink. How a printer works, information from the Dynamic Link Libary is sent to the printer driver, this information is where to print on the paper and what colour to print, ie turning the ink jets on and off, the depth of colour comes from each ink by mixing the inks from the information in the photo or text. All ink problems are usually from ink faults, miss printing comes from driver information. Phill

My printer is hp laserjet cp 1515n. After printing some documents it writes "printing cool down mode" and begins working very slowly. Please help me


1515n - I have the Magenta colour 'shadowing' the blue test. A mirror image of the blue text. [slightly staggered] Black is fine. Applies to all Word docs when printing in blue - can you help please?
I only use genuine cartridges.

Hp printer power light keeps blinking -- wont print any document


Turn both your printer and computer off then after a few minutes turn back on. This should cancel the print job.

Print keeps fading, even though using new ink


check your printer settings, make sure color only is not checked off, or if you mainly print black and white documents, you should have that option checked, you may have to go into advance printer options to do this.

HP Photosmart 3110 All-in-one not printing black ink but colour


have you found a solution to your black ink problem??? I am experiencing exactly what you describe, no error messages, I have reset the printer, alinged, cleaned etc but still not a single drop of black ink but all the colours are working fine. if you know what was wrong please let me know.

Black not printing, other colors fine, replaced cart and deep cleaned several times, no result


Assuming genuine ink cartThis worked for me on a HP printer 1.Try print black text ,and run many copies black only. I ran 25x12 times still no black. Run head clean after about each 50 sheets. Persevered and finally BLACK ink OK

I have changed the BLACK cartridge ( as suggested ) but still cannpt print or move breyond the PROBLEM Note that comes up to CHANGE the Yellow and Black Cartridge - I cannot SCAN or COPY leave alone PRINT - please suggest a solution - Thanks ,

No black ink print. Prints in light blue


Cartriges have a shelf life. It's printing in blue either because it has dried up or is out. Different cartriges have different timelines but if you haven't been using the printer often, it could have dried up or is simply out of ink. I would suggest first to try cleaning the head of the cartrige where the ink comes out with alcohol and a Q-tip and then if that doesn't work, buying a new black cartrige.
