Question about PC Desktops

My Toshiba Satellite M45, model no psm43u-00s00f is not working correctly. The D Drive is not recognizing cd's when they are inserted into the computer. Any ideas on how to get this working? According to my computer, it says that the drives are working correctly.

Try re-installing the drivers for the drive using your driver CD that came with the laptop or visit the manufacturer's website to download the drivers for the drive, install and restart your laptop.

If it is a software problem, then this should fix it. If not, then it would be a hardware problem(your lens may be weak). You could also try using a lens cleaner to clean the lens since it might be dirty.

If not, then you would have to change your drive.

try holding f2 or f10 at boot, right when you turn it on, and hold it in until you get into bios or a boot selection screen. then you need to set the cd drive as the primary, only boot device for the time being

Toshiba satellite D drive not working

If you can see drive in my computer you might be in luck.

If you can eject the drive (My Computer -> right click D: -> click eject) then windows is recognizing it) you might be in luck.

Purchase a CD cleaner (CD with little bristles that will help clean the CD lens).

On the other hand if the drive has no power the only cost effective option is to purchase a new drive.

Hope this helps. Best Regards, -md

sounds like it's missing a power source. Re-check to ensure both a power source and cable are firmly in place.

Installed Toshiba Samsung CD-RW/DVD Drive does not work

You will have to install the drivers that came with the drive. If you don't have the CD that came with it to install the drivers, you will have to search the Toshiba site for the specific model number of the drive. You should be able to download and install the drivers from their website. Hope this helps.

A friend asked me to download drivers for his Toshiba Satellite M45-S2692 laptop, but the best I can locate is...

Goto this page
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp

Select the portables -> Satellite -> then the model

There you will find all the drivers for the laptop

to burn them to a cd first download them all then you can use the windows build in burner.. to drag and drop all the downloaded files into the cd drive (I assume you have a drive which can burn a cd) Then select burn these files into the cd.

IF you need more assistance with this let me know.
