Open the the door look at bottom where the water is accumulating you may need to remove the dishes and the bottom trey, In the very most lower corner of the inside of the dishwasher you will find a drain it will not look like the drain in you sink but more like a 2 1/2 inch cylinder with a mesh like screen, this is the drain screen and it will get clogged from time to time, Depending on the make and model of your dishwasher will determine how this drain cover is removed, The most common removal is to use a Philips head screw drive and remove retainer screw, Now you will need to put your hands in the muck and feel down inside the hole where the gross stuff has plugged up the drain and remove most of it the best you can, After you finish removing the muck you will need to use that Philip head srew driver and remove the screws that secure the kick plate, this is the most lower portion of the dish washer in the front, Now you will be able to access the pump drive it is the plastic or aluminum with 2 to 3 hoses connected to its body. At the base of the pump you should be able to turn the pump manualy, this will help the motor start turning the pump by itself. be sure to put the drain screen back on and secure it with the retaining screw. Reinstall the kick-plate, To prevent this from happening again get the kids to remove the muck from the drain and they will never put a plate full of food in the dishwasher again. Good luck and happy fishing.

Why does drain motor start when pushing the start button on the door before the door is closed?

It's almost certainly the float switch in the bottom of the machine. In the bottom is a polystyrene 'float' that is either active due to water in the bottom or is faulty. Tip your machine to the side and remove water and try again, bridge or replace switch is also an option

I will be helping you today. Are any of the cycle lights lighting up like rinse and normal and is the light on front blinking and pausing if so how many times is it blinking? Try turning the power off too the unit for five minutes and back on, because if the lid was open some or was stuck it can stop the unit from running.

GE Dishwasher - Built in

The most likely cause of the unit is not getting water. If you can remove the kick plate at the bottom and have a voltohm meter you can check: a.the continuity of the solenoid valve at the left front, unplug wireconnector set meter to ohms, touch leads to the terminals if no reading replace complete inlet valve. If you have a reading, then B.Turn on machine, set meter to volts, connect leads to plug, you should have a reading of 120vac. If not, Then the control board needs replacing. If the unit is in warrenty you'll need to contact where you purchased it.

I have a very similar problem. When I push a wash selection, every light on the panel shows up...and when I push Start, nothing happens. When I push cancel, it trys to drain, even tho no water is in there any more. Have you ever had an answer to your problem?
