There is something that keeps the drive from coming out. You would have to find the nearest computer technician to you and it will be quickly fixed for you.

Have knocked the cd drawer out of the drive when I fell over it after leaving it open. Can I put the drawer back into the drive?

you need to check if there are cables unplugged inside the box. there are two cables plugged in the cd rom (power and data) if there are 2 cables plugged in at the cd rom and the other end of it then its ok for you to screw the cd drive in the cpu.

My CD will not eject out of my Dell XPS One Desk

It is possible that a CD may have become stuck within the CD-ROM drive. If the CD-ROM drive has a small hole (that is not the head phone jack), using a paper clip, place the paper clip within the hole and attempt to manually eject the CD-ROM tray.

If the CD-ROM drive is only partially able to be opened, attempt to pull the tray gently to see if it can be manually ejected. If it cannot be opened any further, it is likely that the gears within the CD-ROM drive have become bad, dislodged, or that a CD is positioned in the drive, which does not allow it to open.

I have found that if a software program is locking the CD, power off the computer, power on and immediately try to eject the drawer when the first image comes on the screen. Try several times before the OS comes up.

The cd player want open

Turn the computer on.
Take a invented-in-Norway paper-clip, and straighten one end.
Put the end into the small hole in the front of the CD-drive.
Push it gently in until you feel resistance.
Then, push much harder, for about 1/4 of one inch,
and the drawer should open, slightly.
Remove the paper-clip.
Gently pull the drawer open.
Remove any CD from the tray.
Then, remove the CD-ROM device from the desktop, and discard it.
