The TV is in protect mode.

Try unplugging power cord for ten minutes or so, and see if this help.

If the TV does not restart, then try unplugging for longer.

If still no luck then that means that there is an internal fault, let me know if you get the led blinking a number of times, or if there is an error code message on the TV display.

A 13 blink error is usually a communication error, meaning the data between the internal computers is not being transferred or read properly. The most common cause of this is a bad A board.

If you plan on trying to get an A board and replace itself be aware. there are DANGEROUS VOLTAGES inside thr tv which can cause injury or death. Use extreme care when opening the TV, unplug it before service and let it sit for at least 30 minutes before attempting service

Emissionwhiz, you are wrong, this error has nothing to do with the power supply, it is a communication error, please restrict your comments to your area of expertise.

YOU WILL FIND THAT THE HIGH VOLTAGE CIRCUIT BOARD HAS FAILED, THIS IS WHY IT SHUTS OFF, THE BOARD IS SHORTED, THE COST TO REPAIR THIS WILL ALMOST EXCEED THE COST OF A NEW LCD TV, IF YOU FIX IT THEN IT WILL MOST LIKELY WORK FOR ANOTHER YEAR OR SO AND FAIL AGAIN, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND REPLACE IT, THE NEW SETS ARE CHEAP AND GREAT QUALITY.

Hi,

Offhand, the flashing indicates that the unit has switched to protection mode. On some models, the number and sequence of flashes indicates the general area of the fault and where initial diagnosis can begin. Eventually the unit has to be opened up for a look and see. This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Incidentally, in the hope that this is a simple glitch, perhaps you can try unplugging from the mains and removing all connectors. After an extended period, reconnect and verify connections and try again.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

I understand. When I posted, the info re 13 blinks was not yet available and therefore the proposed solution was based on your initial posting.

Nonetheless, please be informed that there are others who posted solutions to your concern after you posted back with the 13 blinks information. If you are unable to view them and with their kind indulgence, I will post below their comments:

"you will find that the high voltage circuit board has failed, this is why it shuts off, the board is shorted, the cost to repair this will almost exceed the cost of a new lcd tv, if you fix it then it will most likely work for another year or so and fail again, do yourself a favor and replace it, the new sets are cheap and great quality."

    Cheer.

Hello this may be a power supply problem, but my professional guess is that your Y-Substain board has failed. Count the number of times the red light flashes, this indicates the reason of failure of the unit. After which check ur user manual for troubleshooting section, your manual may give you a listing of the number of blinks and what they mean. If you want take off the back and check the fuses on the power supply if one is blown then replace the power supply as just replacing the fuse will just blow it again. If no fuse are blown then have a technician replace teh Y_Substain Board.

Please count red light flashes and let me know. There would be long pause between flashes so count pause to pause. It is an error code of TV problem.
