If you have a little experience with computer hardware, you can try doing it yourself by carefully opening the screws(the hard drive area normally has a hard drive symbol on it) underneath to reveal the hard drive, carefully remove it from its slot and replace it with the new one.

It should be simple but if you are not sure or yourself, let an experienced person or a computer technician fix the new hard drive for you.

Why do not restored disks work for Acer Aspire M1100?

Turn off the computer Henry then turn it back on and hold down the alt key and tap F10 and make sure you remove any disks from the CD drive.
It would appear that the hard drive is having boot sector issues.

I have an acer aspire t180-oa7z. i want to put a new hard drive in. my current hard drive 80gb SATA. what hard drive would you recommend?

For your current spec hard drives can support up to 400GB. So I would like to suggest using 320 GB hard drives, and I see hard drives with this capacity still available on the market.

hi pete,

changing the bios will do the trick, find one that is most compatible with aspire 1640 for a 500gig hd, once you have this replaced, it will work.

How do i change the hard drive in a acer aspire 5710

underneath the notebook you will see a little hard drive icon next to the bay you need to remove.

the hard drive normally pushes directly into the motherboard and is held in by means of a clamp.

Once the clamp is removed gently slide away the hard drive from the motherboard connecting pins and replace your drive.
