John Deere L110 blade brakes wont stop blades from spinning

My L110 works fine except when the blade engagement lever is positioned to stop the blades, the blades continue to spin. I checked the blade brakes & they are engaging the belt when the lever is set to stop the blades. Any advice on where to go from here?

SOURCE: Craftsman 42" mower deck won't disengage

Try pulling on the cable coming down to deck. This cable might be your problem. Also check that the spring on the end of this cable is present and functional.

SOURCE: John Deere LA110 mower blades got disengaged

does it engage manually with a lever, or is it electronic with a push pull switch? if electronic, check the wire that goes to the electric clutch, it might have come off when unplugging it. do all this with the engine off

SOURCE: john deere gt 235 electric blade engagment but

One of two possible causes;either the PTO switch is defective or the switch for the reverse peddle is out of adjustment .The only other thing i have seen cause the PTO to shut down is a lack of battery power due to the machine not charging.

make sure the battery is fully charged, check all electrical connections and clean them with vinegar and rinse well with demineralized water afterward.

My JD L110 motor still turns the blade/belt when I turn the blade lever to the off position. It then throws off the belt from its pulleys... very not good!

Sounds like you may have a stretched belt for one thing. When was the last time it was replaced? As far as the blades continuing to spin, there should be blade brake shoes that rub against the tops of the pulleys when the deck is retracted to the disengage height. Those msy need to be adjusted or replaced.

John Deere L110 Mower wont engage

Depending on which type of PTO you have the problem could be simple to diagnose... if you have an electric PTO, you may be dealing with a bad switch... if electric, you should have good tension on the belt at all times. If it is a lever that you push/pull to engage the blades, then it would seem that the tensioner pulley is not applying the required tension on the belt... could be a broken spring or a worn/slipping belt (not enough tension)... hope that gives you somewhere to look into...

The blades don't engage when i push the pto switch on dash

Sounds like you have a loose or broken wire. It may have an inline fuse that blew. I would start at the switch and work my way down checking the wires for breaks or disconnections. If nothing, it may be your brake switch. If your brake switch is defective or not hooked up, your mower wont register you have pressed the brake lever and wont allow you to activate the mower deck as a safety measure.

Blade on John Deere L110 will not shut off

Check the cable that runs from the acuating lever to the tensioner pulley on your deck it could be broken or frayed. also check the plastic holder on the deck end of the pulley, it fits in a small groove in a brace on the deck and is held in place by a tractor pin. when they removed your deck to sharpen the blades they may not have re-connected it properly or the plastic holder may be broken and not allowing the proper tension on the cable. if your tractor is equipped with a PTO switch near the lever check the connections and the continuity of the switch...hope this helps.... ;-D
