Question about Dell Inspiron 1000 Notebook
My Inspiron 1000 laptop won't turn on. The power supply's green light blinks rapidly when plugged in to the laptop. I tried a new power supply and the same thing happens. I also took out the battery and plugged the computer in to the power supply. Still didn't turn on. Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem could be? Someone mentioned that it could be the motherboard, which wouldn't be worth repairing. Thank you.
The motherboard is bad. This model had a fault where after a while the North Bidge heatsink would break off and short the motherboard distroying it. This problem is something to not fix, it is not worth it, cost more than it is worth.

If you tried another AC adaptor and the green light still blinks, then most likely your motherboard has a problem.

I had the same problem. Mine hadn't turned on for a week. First I tried taking the battery out and plugging it in, that didn't work. After reseating the hard drive and the optical drive, I took out the battery again, and it powered up. So try reseating the hard drive, optical drive and memory, if any, in expandable slot. (Preinstalled memory isn't accessible to reseat in the Inspiron 1000.)
