Dell Inspiron 1000 notebook won't turn on

My Inspiron 1000 laptop won't turn on. The power supply's green light blinks rapidly when plugged in to the laptop. I tried a new power supply and the same thing happens. I also took out the battery and plugged the computer in to the power supply. Still didn't turn on. Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem could be? Someone mentioned that it could be the motherboard, which wouldn't be worth repairing. Thank you.

My Dell Inspiron Power Light is Solid Green.

WHen I depress the power-on button all lights blink and the system simply does not power on. No Fan, No Disk No activity at all.

    Please help

Similar issue with my Inspiron 1000. If you turn it on, the power light glows, but static. At times the fan turns on, but you can hear it slow down to a certain point and then it stops. No video. If I remove the battery, but plug it in and tilt the laptop slightly backward (e.g., as it sits on my lap), it WILL turn on. The minute I move to straighten it out, it shuts down. If I try to start it up on a level surface, it won't turn on.

Leads me to believe there's some disconnect with the power supply or (more likely) the motherboard. Any thoughts are appreciated

I've got one here someone gave me that's doing the same thing. I wonder if it's not really where the ac adapter plugs in (dc plug in)? My sister has a newer dell that is doing basically the same thing, and it's her dc plug in.

The motherboard is bad. This model had a fault where after a while the North Bidge heatsink would break off and short the motherboard distroying it. This problem is something to not fix, it is not worth it, cost more than it is worth.

If you tried another AC adaptor and the green light still blinks, then most likely your motherboard has a problem.

I had the same problem. Mine hadn't turned on for a week. First I tried taking the battery out and plugging it in, that didn't work. After reseating the hard drive and the optical drive, I took out the battery again, and it powered up. So try reseating the hard drive, optical drive and memory, if any, in expandable slot. (Preinstalled memory isn't accessible to reseat in the Inspiron 1000.)

No power battery flashes 4 orange

If it is orange or is blinking orange, the battery charge is low or expended. Remove the battery and re-install it. Plug in the AC adapter and connect it to an outlet. Turn on the computer.

When the battery status light blinks green and orange, the battery temperature is too hot for charging. Shut down the laptop, detach the AC adapter, and allow the laptop and battery to return to room temperature before attempting to charge the battery.

If the battery status light blinks orange rapidly, the battery itself may be defective.

My Dell Inspiron B130 won't turn on. The battery light blinks yellow twice then green, but that is the only thing happening.

Hi,
Take the battery off completely and drain the flea power from the laptop by holding down the power button while the battery is off. Hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds to ensure no power remains on the laptop. Check if your battery has a drain button too. Drain the battery and place it back on the laptop.
Charge it for about 30 minutes before you turn it on. See if it works.

Dell Inspiron 1721 will not power on,light on power supply flashes rapidly.

First, try and take out the battery and start the computer with just the power adapter. If the power adapter is still blinking, replace the power adapter. If the computer turns on with just the power adapter, replace the battery.

If the battery status light rapidly flashes amber, the battery may be defective. Purchase a replacement battery from Dell.

If the power supply status light flashes, the power supply may be defective. Purchase a replacement power supply.
