When I turn on my system (4 month old ps3 (40gb), with HDMI cable to a 40" Bravia X-series, no internet connection), the cross media bar displays what appears to be programming code in a flouresent green, just flickering in the background. During gameplay (Fallout3, Saints row2); Invisible walls show up as solid objects, some trees & npc's grow square edged branches which reach to the horizon (which can be walked through, but not shot through). These growths can sometimes cover the entire screen, reducing visibility to a calidescope of black, greys & blues. visibility zero. Turn character 180 degrees, perfect picture. All started a 5-6 weeks ago, with lag & then freezing during assasins creed, as well as lag in civilisation revoloution. No problems with dvd's or blu-ray. Please help!?!? My baby is sick :(

Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT
port on the
back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the
other end of the HDMI
cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red
light on the
front of the system), hold down the
touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system
goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from:
red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This
will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to
reset the Video Output Settings.
Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system
up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard
resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your
Hi,The settings on the PS3 are sending the video signal throught the HDMI port. Either go through the XMB via system settings, display settings,or if you only have a low def tv then hold the power for 5 seconds (when you turn it on i belive) and it resets it. You may have to adjust the audio settings at the same time, because if you pressed yes when the HDMI was first connected, you agreed to send the audio signal via HDMI as well.
I have the PS3 and this TV and it works....Try this.
1. Turn ON TV
2. Connect HDMI from TV to PS3
3. Select the correct HDMI input on the TV for the PS3(important)
4.Turn OFF PS3 if it is ON.
5. hold [I/O] Power button on PS3
6. Wait about 5 second and you should get the "HDMI Detected" or some similar message.
7. Configure the HDMI output for the PS3
Also, If you set the PS3 to "auto" for hdmi, it may set the resolution to 1080i. You may want to deselect everthing but the 1080P.
I had the same problem at first. I did the following:
1. Connect both cables: Multi-AV and HDMI.
2. Go to the TV's channel for SCART. 3. You now can see the PS3. Go to Display Settings, under
Settings menu. Select HDMI and the desired resolution.
4. Change to the HDMI channel. 5. You should now also see the PS3's XMB on the HDMI channel. 6. You can now disconnect the Multi-AV.

P.S. I figured you were Dutch since you used Neophyte as a name for your previous question. Are you Dutch, and in that case: what videogames store you work at?
