Question about Philips 32PT5441/37 32" TV

2 Answers

Blue, red, green lines on top of screen for couple months. Now tv wont work.

Tv 4 years old. Problem started with colored lines and roll over look at top of screen. After a couple months tv stopped working. I turn tv on, it powers up and about the time the picture should appear tv turns off and power light blinks 3 short pause and then 1 long then repeats. I used the tv in the morning before work and it was fine aside from the issues at the top of the screen. When I came home from work and turned tv on thats when tv stopped working. Thanks for hearing my problem.

Sounds like what mine started doing 2 days ago. I have hopes in repairing mine as well with the same model #. any information would be helpful as to where to start in the circuit and what part of it would be called. Its been about 10 years since i repaired tv's but actually repaired this model ourselves one other time for $12 dollars. so hopefully it will be like that again. but any information on this would be appreciated so i can repair mine before it dies...

    Abrsvcs,

I've got the same foldover issue...
I'm new to TV repair, but was guessing it was cap in vertical circuit, especially when I read somewhere that these are often electrolytic. I've got that exact model number...32PT5441/37.

Any tips on additional details/instructions would be greatly appreciated. I don't have a manual yet, so tips on what I'm looking for would be appreciated (I'm a EE by education, so I know the basics)

The foldover is because of a bad capacitor in the vertical circuit. Given the "new" sympotom of a dead set, I would suspect that the vertical IC has failed. This should be a relatively simple repair for a TV shop. If you wish to attempt a repair of this yourself, update this and confirm your model number and I'll post more details and instructions.

The picture has a green tint to it on all channels

The color signal consists of Red, Green and Blue. Those three colors, at various degrees, make all the other colors on your screen.

If you have a BRIGHT green screen it's best you don't operate your set.
If it's just tinted green then there is a problem on the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) drive board. Do check your "tint" setting and see if someone misadjusted it. If that isn't it then you need to have your set on an electronics bench and get an estimate for repair.

Tv color messed up

There is the chance that the yoke has sliped and a purity adjustment is in order, since you would be dealing with voltages that could kill you if you don't know haw to do this the safest bet would be to take it to the shop

Screen Green Tint

Turn down your color and see if the screen has a normal black & white screen. If it doesn't then the CRT is bad (picture tube). If it is black & White then you have a either lost your red or blue. That problem will be in your video driver circuit of which a service center can handle.

Green horizontal lines across screen

try adjusting the green screen control. remove the front bottom panel of the tv by removing any screws holding it in place. gently pull of the front panel, there are gromets holding it in place, you will be able to gently remove the front, just make sure you get all those screws. now reove the small wodden or plastioc panel. now you will see the screen/focus assy. check to see of the screen controls are the top 3 or bottom 3. adjusted the center screen it's the green one, the other 2 are the red & blue. it is best to adjust in a dark room where the lines will show up easier. good luck
