If you are handy with tools I can tell you what to try first. This involves removing the bottom cover on the camera (4 screws)

SOURCE: my camera won't advance the film

If it has not been used in a while, the batteries may be dead and/or the contacts on the cap and in the body may have corrosion build up. Try fresh batteries after you clean the contact points with an eraser. The batteries go in positive up, toward the cap

SOURCE: pentax K100d super

I fixed the problem. It was caused by an extra little pimple on the sirius lens slipping into the auto focus indent indent on the camera body.

It is possible to get up to a ten thou engineers feeler gauge into the gap between lens and camera body although the one that did it for me was a three thou gauge.

I needed to cut the feeler gauge square at the tip and then, even though it was only three thou, I hit the tip by resting on a vice and tapping with the ball end of a small ball pein hammer. This caused the tip to form with a small curve. I then used a tool makers file to smooth the end down to almost nothing.

Turn the camera AF MF switch to AF to raise the screw. Fiddle the feeler gauge into the slot between body and lens just near the AF MF button and very gently probe the gauge. You are trying to get the little curve you made on the feeler gauge to slip over the pimple on the lens.

Its a very nice feeling when the gauge slips right in and the lens comes free.

The next proceedure, if you want to use the lens, is to unscrew the aluminium mount at the end and remove the offending pimple on the lens.

Dear friend, take your lens off, turn your camera to M for manual, rotate the main comand dial till you see the word BULB, press down the shutter button and keep holding it down, use a hand puffer, not canned air and gently puff some air into the camera. Very important, the lens opening must be facing down so any little debris will fall directly out. Let go of the shutter button when finished and replace the lens, repete if needed. You can buy those little hand blowers or puffers at any camera store. Hope that helps, Barry fossils@rapidnet.com

Yes, with limitations. The lenses will fit on any Pentax (now Ricoh) digital SLR. You may lose autofocus and/or auto exposure metering.

I have a Pentax and a Petrie cameras that in need of repair. Both have the same problem, although there is more in need of repair with the Pentax. The lever that advances on both are jammed.

Never force the advance lever on a camera that is locked. You will only damage more parts, and may render the camera unrepairable. Try moving the speed indicator to different settings. Change the batteries. Jar the camera by hitting it lightly with the palm of your hand. But, never force the advance lever if it is locked and will not move.Click Here for pictures gear.gif

I have a pentax 67 camera and the film advance lever is jammed. it will not advance without putting undo pressure on it which i am not willing to do. i have read many forums that have said this is not an...

Try pressing the film release button on the underside of the camera. This should unstick the advance roller.
If possible, replace the watch battery for your camera (inserted in the bottom, right by the teeny black button I mentioned above).
Change your exposure setting to Bulb exposure and back.
If all else fails, take your camera into the darkroom (or at least a completely light-insulated closet, bathroom, etc.), and pop open the back and recover your film. Hopefully you won't have too much wasted film on your hands.
Good on you, however, for not forcing the lever. Nothing good will come of that.

When i try to advance my ae-1 camera it takes a picture! how do i fix it

The magnets that control the shutter are the likely suspect. Dirt and debris can cause them not to hold properly. Hence, it fires the shutter when you advance the film. It is something you can repair yourself. ............or.
you can also try....

i'm not an expert on the AE-1. It is a camera I've never had any desire to own. But on most older slr camera the rewind knob will turn when the film is advanced. But only after the slack has been taken out of the film still in the canister. Since you've already taken a few shot the film shot be very secure on the take up spool. To check that it is, slowly crank the film rewind crank clockwise. After a few turns the film should become tight in the canister, and you will feel the tension. If this happens then the film was loaded properly. If after quite a few turns you still feel nothing, then the film was not properly inserted into the take up spoll. If the film was not loaded correctly the film leader will go inside the canister as you crank. But that is not a problem. Any photo lab can pull the leader back out. Just make sure they know what happened.

Thanks.

I suspect dirty contacts on either lens or body. Clean contacts. Should alleviate problem. This happened to my K100d.

My Pentax SPII shoots blank images

You can check the shutter without film in the camera. Remove the lens and open the film door. You will see the cloth curtains of the shutter in the center. Advance the film lever to **** the shutter and set the speed dial to a slower speed like 1/15. Hold the camera so it is aimed a a light source, (a window will do) and fire the shutter. You should see the light through the shutter for the time duration is is set to. (1/15). If you see the light source, repeat the process going up one speed setting until you reach 1/1000. If you see the shutter open and close as described, then try another roll. After you load the film and close the back door, make note of what the rewind knob is doing as you advance the film. It should spin counter-clockwise each time. That is a easy test to know that the film is traveling in the camera properly. Vary your exposures with the new roll at different speeds and f-stops. You should get exposures, but if not let us know.

Pentax super 100 35 mm camera shutter is stuck

gabe529; This doesn't appear to be a digital camera, so this can't be a problem generic to all digitals! This is a film camera. Have you tried new batteries? Have you checked your battery polarity in the camera? Have you taken your film out and wound the take-up lever once or twice, or will it not advance? There are many situations where a 35mm camera shutter won't work. We may provide a better answer if your post could be more specific (i.e. what were you doing before the shutter quit - loading film, taking a snapshot, checking shutter release while the back is open?) Hope this helps somewhat.

How can I rewind film in a Pentax Zoom 60-X camera

I used to use point and shoot film cameras. My guess is that there is a button underneath which when you depress will automatically rewind the film. Sometimes the button is very small that you may need a ballpen point to press it. Hope this helps cuz i have no idea what the Pentax Zoom looks like. I am guess it is a point an shoot type and not an SLR. If it is a point and shoot type, you must be sure the battery has power or else it won't rewind.
