Gas oven will not lite but thing in bottom glows do not smell gas

By "thing in bottom" Iam assuming your talking about the igniter. If you are and it is only glowing then it probably needs to be replaced. If you cant smell the gas either thats a worring sign in of itself. I would first replace the igniter and then go from there though. Let me know how it goes!!

Gas range oven heating slowlyJenn-Air Electric/Gas Range JDS9861AAP heats slowly

The problem beleive it or not is that the bake ignitor is weak ,and it is not drawing the proper amprage to open the gas valve. If you have a amp meter access the wires to the bake ignitor(usually behind the storage drawer) and check for 3.3-3.6 amps when oven is set to bake by clamping the meter around ONE wire wire of ignitor make sure only one wire, either one and not both.
if amp draw less than 3.3-3.6 amps replace bake ignitor. I know it seems improbable that if the ignotor comes on that it could be the problem.Professional appliance technicians who would charge a average of $250.00 to repair your oven, have found when the ignitor comes on yet the oven won't heat that a weak ignitor is the cause 100% of the time

I hope this helps

KGHST307HBS6 bake cycle does not heat up, no gas smell, broiler still works, ignitor glows about as bright as the broiler ignitor and was recently replaced. The gas valve recently replaced and no smell of...

you have 2 posibilities the first one is very unprobable and the second will fix the oven

1) the new gas valve is defective and while the proper amprage is being supplied to it,it simply wont open

2) even though the bake ignitor is indeed coming on it isn't drawing the proper amp draw (3.2-3.6 amps) to open the gas valve ,the very fact the ignitor comes on totally eminates that the control isn't providing power to it for the bake ignitor to heat

i have been a appliance repair technician for over 30 years and am 100% confident that by replacing the bake ignitor the oven will work fine

Ignitor lights up bright, but no ignition,no flame and I don't hear the gas turn on like I normally do. Top burners work fine.

Hello, welcome to fixya ! Based on your description I suspect you have a faulty bake ignitor. This may surprise you, or it may not. I think at first it surprises people when the hot surface ignitor glows but the oven won't lite. Since the ignitor "glows" one figures it would appear to be working, that would be wrong. These ignitor's serve 2 functions, 1) need to maintain a set value to open/activate the gas valve, typically around 3.5amps... & 2) ignite the fuel once said gas valve is open. A poor/faulty ignitor may glow & and even ignite the burner intermittently for moments at a time ( thus giving off some heat but never the set amount or not lite at all ) but yet not reach the needed value to open the gas valve/safety valve consistently nor adequately, hence the need to replace the ignitor. Try this and I'm certain you'll be up & running and as they say " cookin' with gas" ! I'd suggest you should refer to your specific model when ordering the part locally or on-line. The most common hot surface ignitor part is #12400035 and it will work in your Whirlpool too. Try places like repairclinic.com, searspartsdirect.com, APwagner.com etc. Thank's for visiting "fixya" for your stove inquiries. Please take a moment while here to rate the solution provided or let me know if you require further assistance and good luck. macmarkus :)

The bake ignitor has failed.Turn off the gas supply. Remove the racks. Then remove the bottom pan cover in the oven to access the ignitor. Place a amp meter on one wire of the ignitor.Turn the BAKE switch on. If it reads less than 3 amps, replace the ignitor.

Our broiler, and burners work great. Oven itself has an electric pilot lite that's working but not heating up the rest of the oven. Any suggestions?

I can only assume from your description you mean to say you have a gas range
your seeing an orange glow from the ignitor but your not getting proper heat.
well io would goto
appliancepartspros.com
type in your model number
you are looking for the BAKE IGNITOR
that should glow almost white hot,
or if you know how you can check it with an amp probe
it should be between 2.8 and 3.6 to properly operate your gas valve

Oven heats to 185 degrees in a hour on preheat

Find the bake ignitor (you may need to remove bottom drawer or oven cavity floor to get to the ignitor). Turn on the bake. If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. If the ignitor is a round style - amperage should be 2.5-3A, if the ignitor is rectangular - 3 - 3.6A. If less than 2.5A or 3A respectively - replace ignitor.
Ignitor part numbers for round style ones: 4342528, WB2X9154, SGR403, 5304401265;
rectangular styles: 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020, 5303935066, 814269, 9753108.
Ignitors of the same shape (i.e. rectangular) are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires.

Good luck!
