You would nee to check the ignitor for 110v when bake selected, if you have it,then youll need a new ignitor, No power the ignitor is either an issue with the control not sending power, or a bad safety valve ( second wire from ignitor plugs into it) this safety valve should have continuity across the terminals, no continuity youll need a new safety valve

    it must be checked with the multimeter.

  • mmechanics Nov 10, 2008

    You have a control board which is called a replay board.and when the time comes for the bake element to come on, this relay closes and
    turns on the element.

Gas oven will not lite but thing in bottom glows do not smell gas

By "thing in bottom" Iam assuming your talking about the igniter. If you are and it is only glowing then it probably needs to be replaced. If you cant smell the gas either thats a worring sign in of itself. I would first replace the igniter and then go from there though. Let me know how it goes!!

Bake cycle wont work gas kenmore with electric controls you can set temp it goes to preheat and nothing happens broiler works and all the tops work

Hello,

here is a tip i wrote covering that

What the problem is when your gas oven ignitor glows,but no heat for the...

MessageRate.ThreadID = 9947539; MessageRate.ProductID = 0;

The problem beleive it or not is that the bake ignitor is weak ,and it is not drawing the proper amprage to open the gas valve.If you have a amp meter access the wires to the bake ignitor(usually behind the storage drawer) and check for 3.3-3.6 amps when oven is set to bake by clamping the meter around ONE wire wire of ignitor make sure only one wire,either one and not both.
if amp draw less than 3.3-3.6 amps replace bake ignitor. I know it seems improbable that if the ignotor comes on that it could be the problem.Professional appliance technicians who would charge a average of $250.00 to repair your oven,have found when the ignitor comes on yet the oven won't heat that a weak ignitor is the cause 100% of the time

KGHST307HBS6 bake cycle does not heat up, no gas smell, broiler still works, ignitor glows about as bright as the broiler ignitor and was recently replaced. The gas valve recently replaced and no smell of...

you have 2 posibilities the first one is very unprobable and the second will fix the oven

1) the new gas valve is defective and while the proper amprage is being supplied to it,it simply wont open

2) even though the bake ignitor is indeed coming on it isn't drawing the proper amp draw (3.2-3.6 amps) to open the gas valve ,the very fact the ignitor comes on totally eminates that the control isn't providing power to it for the bake ignitor to heat

i have been a appliance repair technician for over 30 years and am 100% confident that by replacing the bake ignitor the oven will work fine

GE Gas built in oven Model JRS14 will not heat up

The bake ignitor has failed.Turn off the gas supply. Remove the racks. Then remove the bottom pan cover in the oven to access the ignitor. Place a amp meter on one wire of the ignitor.Turn the BAKE switch on. If it reads less than 3 amps,replace the ignitor.

Oven heats to 185 degrees in a hour on preheat

Find the bake ignitor (you may need to remove bottom drawer or oven cavity floor to get to the ignitor). Turn on the bake. If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. If the ignitor is a round style - amperage should be 2.5-3A, if the ignitor is rectangular - 3 - 3.6A. If less than 2.5A or 3A respectively - replace ignitor.
Ignitor part numbers for round style ones: 4342528, WB2X9154, SGR403, 5304401265;
rectangular styles: 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020, 5303935066, 814269, 9753108.
Ignitors of the same shape (i.e. rectangular) are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires.

Good luck!
