Question about Projection Televisions

3 Answers

I have a1989 Projection Color TV. Had a repair man a few years back who has since died. He popped the front off, squirted the screen with Windex, wiped with paper towels and left. Can you tell me how to pop off that front. Have lots of young males here ready to help. Thanks, Pat

Hi,

Initially, pls postback the brand and model number. Different brands and models have different designs although normally, there would be clasps/lock on the edges and depending on the size midway.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

  • You need to turn off the TV to allow the lenses to cool, and unplug the set to be safe.
  • Then, remove the screen protector from the front.
  • The protector will "pop" off of the front, just pull gently outward on the frame until one of the sections pops loose, then work your way around the frame until it's loose.
  • The screen protector is held on by small round “nubs” that fit into holes in the protector frame.

My color is off on my whole tv i have a 52''projection toshiba cinema series the old big style and was wondering how to adjust the colors so they match up

Sounds like what was wrong with mine! Take the remote and hit menu, then scroll to the Video Adjust button, then adjust the "convergence" or the color tone, brightness, contrast etc. My repair man did this and it helped get the picture much more life-like. He said over time they get out of line and just need a few adjustments. He just charged the $50 house call. Good luck, hope you can fix it.

How do I dust inside the screen of a Rear projection TV?

Unplug tv first Usually you can pop the front screen off the set. There may be two hidden catches depending on the model. You may want to use two people for this. Once the screen is off removed the spider web and clean the back mirror with some windex, don't clean the inside of screen with any cleaner. Replace carefully the screen making sure it clicks back correctly

I have a 6 year old Samsung PCJ522R 52" TV.

It sounds like at least one of 3 "IHVT",s popped. in short, a "IHVT" is a high voltage transformer. It will have to be replaced along with any other parts that were damaged in the process.
They do produce a strong odor when they pop!!

It is repairable but at a price. there is a good chance that parts will have to be ordered.

you might consider buying a new LCD HDTV instead of fixing this one.

Yellow hue

1)Please verify your model # from back of set......

2)Reduce the color to minimum or tune in a black & white chan.
you should see gray, not yellow hue

3)Remove lower front grill cover & access panel.....locate the
focus / screen control block...turn blue screen control slightly
CW......red,green and blue must mix to equal gray

4) reset color to normal level.......reassemble
