Garage Door Openenr Motor Buzz

I have tow Craftsman 1/2 HP garade door openers. On the single garage door, the motor buzzes for a few seconds and nothing happens. The yellow light on the moror back continuosly flashes. I rpogrammed the remote control by pressing the red button until the yellow light stays on continously, and then pressing the key on the remote control. The main light flashes once as it should do, but the yellow light next to the red button continuous to flash. Do I need a new unit?

Thank you for the tip. Unfortunately I am currently out of state and will return home late on Friday and hope to try your fix the next day. I will keep you informed.

By the way why does the little yellow light next to the Red learn button on the back of the opener keep on flashing? The same light on the similar unit on our 2 door garage does not flash.

when I press the remote, the gate motor receiver accepts the remote signal and the status light flashes but the motor does not turn.

Look at your manuel find the page that shows the limit access switch. (Unplug your opener.) It isn't really a switch, but the three white plastic screw like parts. The center has a brown wire connected to it, which has a metal piece that is as wide as all three white screws. The outside screws are your limit access stop guides, one for the up control stop guide and the other for the down control stop guide. If the center screw with the metal part gets caught behind on of the stop guides the motor will not engage. Gently move metal piece from behind the stop guide.

The light flashes because the motor is trying to engage, but is unable to for safety purposes...I believe the limit switch is stuck. Once you resolve that, the opener will work. Have you pressed and held the "learn" button? If you have, you will need to redo your remotes once the unit is back working properly and any testing of your unit has to be from the main hardwired remote on your garage wall.

Craftsman 1/2 hp garage opener opens and closes, but when it is finished closing the opener buzzes. When I put the door up the buzzing stops. The light has not worked for several years. I replaced

For the lights, very common the contacts get flattened out and melted. I see this every day. Unplug the opener and let it sit for about 30 min. I never wait but just to be safe, let the capacitor loose its charge. With a precision flathead screwdriver or fingernail, bend the contacts in the light socket out about 1/8". Should help. Buzzing concerns me a little. May be an electrical issue. These openers use an AC brushed motor. They get very hot and in rare cases can catch fire. Theres gear grease and dust inside that has ignited in a few motors. There is an overheat switch built in but dont count on it. I would suggest buying a new machine. Find a DC motor with a belt drive. They last the longest and require the least maintenance. Marantec make the best in my opinion.

When I push the keypad all I get is short buzz from the motor then it shuts off

Sounds like the motor is seized up. If the door moves at all, I would say the beams are not aligned correctly.

Craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener motor just buzzes when the remote is pushed no movement

Check to see if the trolley is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. If so loosen the chain enough to remove the tension of the trolley. Now run the motor until the door closes. While the door is closed, locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit. Turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

My 41A4315-7a Garage door opener Motor does not engage. It just hum sfor a second then stops. I checked the internal gears and they seem fine. The door buzzes for a second then stops. Any Ideas.

If the door is not stuck in the open position and just hums you could have a bad start capacitor. It is alongside the motor and has 4 wires going to it.

Garage door will open and close one time, then it will not open unless i unplug the unit for a few seconds. then it will open and close one time then have to unplug again. it's a craftsman 1/2 hp

The motor has a thermal overload switch that may be causing the symptom you describe. It is to protect the motor in case of overheating. Maybe not operating it so much will help with your problem.

Craftsman Garage Opener (Unit run front & back only for 2 second)

Double check to make sure the sensors are wired correctly. The 2 solid white wires go to terminal 2 and the wires with black stripes go to terminal 3. If the wiring is correct then you possibly have a bad RPM sensor. The RPM sensor is a small circuit board just in front of the motor.
