Question about Gateway GT4016 Desktop PC

1 Answer

System recovery I have a gateway GT4016. I tried to do recovey to the PC, but mistakely, I used the recovery CD from another PC. When I did that, the recovery disk D: got full and the recovey process got stuck in the middle. When I tried to re-do, the system recovery, it does not start from the begining, but tried to conitue from where it stopped. I would like to recover from this and do recovery. I have correct system recovery disks now, but I can not get it to work, either because the recovery disk D: is full or because the system recovery process tried to continue where is stopped and does not start from the beginning. How can I recover?

well, even though that you complete the reformatting the pc to your new disk, it will ask you to put your serial number ad stuff. So i ended up completing reformatting with the same disk that came with the pc. hope it wil help

I have a Gateway GT4016 Desktop PC im trying to restore it back to factory settings without the cd. can you help

almost all gateway have all of your restore to factory default on a drive that is hidden on the hard drive. All company's use a different key to do this but I always start with f5 start the comp and hold f5 down and the system restore program should pop up. If it is not f5 it will just beep at ya. Then just do the same thing over and over starting with f1 all the way to f12 until you find the right one. but I always try f5 and f8 first hope that helps

GT4016 recovery stuck on 1 screen

Sounds like a memory problem. You have to remove the ram and spray some air using pressurized air in the slots then reinstall the memory. That might do the trick.

GT4016 freshly reformatted with recovery CD. No drivers. No connection (to internet). Where do I find the driver (to download and burn to CD) enabling my GT4016 to connect through ethernet?

Here is a link to the drivers you need:

http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?st=pn&param=1008842

Be sure to download the audio, video, motherboard and modem drivers. Just put them on a san disk or equivalent media storage device. When you have installed the drivers check the device manager to see if anything else is missing (a yellow question mark next to a device name). Hope you get fixed.

I have a gateway gt4016, it is not loading. it's asking for a recovery cd... so I put in the operating disc (windows xp) it's not reading it and I can't enter safe mode.

first go into the bios f2
set the boot record to boot from cd first
also on new computers it will say hit f 11 12
for boot order selection, but this has to be done fast before it tries to pick up on hard drive
if the cd player works ok
you should see "press any key to boot from cd" first, is the start of erasing your hard drive

Where do I get a system recovery disc for a gateway GT4016??

Well the quick and dirty answer to this would simply be to order a replacement set directly from Gateway

If you check in with different computer repair centers in your local area, you can also check in with them, see if the technicians there keep a library of restore disks. I work at a tech shop myself, and we usually carry an extensive library of different restore disks for various notebooks and desktops.
